After a cold practice session, it was not long before qualifying. Chris and Ashley Sahakian went out on new slicks for the qualifying session and managed to place 6th and 7th in GT Sport, respectively. The crew had less than 2 hours to get the cars prepped for the first race of the day. Chris was off to a fast start and managed to pass a couple of cars right off the bat. Unfortunately, only a couple of laps into the race, Chris had some more bad luck with his car; The lower control arm broke, which forced Chris to forfeit the race due to the car’s inability to move any further.
On a better note, Ashley had some good battles, leading her to pass a few competitors. She managed to accomplish her goal of getting on podium and finished 3rd in the GT Sport division. She had tears of joy while pulling up to the impound lot and finding out she came in 3rd, as it was her first pro series podium. The crowd roared with much excitement as she climbed the 3rd step of the podium for the first time.

A tight schedule would lead the drivers into their second race of the day, where Chris would start 3rd and Ashley 5th. Ashley was determined to finish her last race of the season on a good note. She raced hard and had a great battle with Nathalie Hénault in her Subaru WRX STI. Ashley fought her for a few laps and finally passed her in the braking zone before corner 3. Ashley managed to take home 4th place, behind her brother.

Chris stayed quite close to Kwok and Attrell in the first half of the race, but had loss of power mid-way through and the front runners got away from him. The crew realized something was wrong with his engine when they heard the drastic different sound as Chris passed by. Luckily, Chris was still able to finish the race and captured 3rd place for the final round of CTCC.

George and Eloisa, parents of Chris and Ashley, expressed how proud and happy they were to see not one, but both of their children on podium that day.

Although Chris Sahakian had more than his fair share of bad luck with car trouble, he still managed to finish the season in second in the Grand Touring Sport Championship with 1324 points. Ashley accomplished her goals of getting on podium and finishing in the “top 5” and placed fourth in the Grand Touring Sport championship with 1027 points.

A special mention to Vick Decker, Peter Cohen, and the team for working hard to get the #99 Mustang running great for ICar. Your hard work was greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of the friends and family who joined the team at ICar Mirabel to support the final races.
