2017 Ford Focus ST, Road Test, Road-Test.org, Iain Shankland, @FordCanada, @BHGMediaFleetWhen I told my wife I’d booked a Focus ST for a week she asked me why I’d do that when we already drive our own Focus every day… was it any better? Considering its almost 100 hp more than our anaemic 2.0L engine and a whopping 124 additional lbs/ft of torque at a much lower 2,500 rpm instead of 4,600, I’d say it would be well worth taking the time to compare. 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Sweaty palms, shortness of breath and a racing heartbeat. I didn’t know it yet but I had fallen in love.  That was the first few seconds of my experience behind the wheel of the 2010 Evo – I hadn’t even left the parking lot yet and it was more than I had expected!!! Driving at barely faster than idle, I felt like Charlton Heston in “Ben-Hur” when he was holding the reins of those four stallions while steering a chariot. The Evo feels like it’s on a razors edge, but not uncomfortably so. After a day though, the feeling subsides and it’s just like every other car, albeit with tons of get up and go.
