Road Test – 2015 Mercedes-Benz C400 4MATIC

2015 Mercedes-Benz C400 4MATIC ,, Iain ShanklandAfter years of procrastinating, I finally stopped by Oakville Mercedes-Benz to see my friend Steve Jones and take him up on his offer to go out on a test drive in one of his cars. I have no idea why I took so long to get around to it, but after today’s trip – it won’t be long before I’m back at his door begging for another test drive!! I let Steve chose the car, because after all who would better know about them than a top salesman and AMG Specialist? Read the rest of this entry »

Stuttgart, Jun 12, 2015
Mercedes-Benz victorious in no fewer than five categories at prestigious “Off Road Award 2015”. Readers of the magazine Off Road have voted five Mercedes-Benz SUV models Off-Road Vehicle of the Year. This makes the Stuttgart-based premium manufacturer more successful and more popular than all other car brands.

The commanding victory in five categories reflects strong demand for the various Mercedes-Benz SUV models in many markets. The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé, which celebrates its launch in July, especially impressed the readers of the magazine Off Road. The new SUV was victorious both in category G “Luxury Crossover” and in category K “Newcomer”. The compact Mercedes-Benz GLA triumphed in category F “Crossover”, leaving a clear distance between it and the second-placed vehicle. e-smart – The Market Leader For The Third Time In A Row

@Road_Test #RT #smartfortwo electric drive

Stuttgart.  When it comes to new registrations of electric cars in Germany the same name takes first place every year: smart fortwo electric drive. This is a hat trick for the battery-electric two-seater – for the third time in a row it has beaten all competitors with all-electric drive (without range extender).

With more than 4700 new registrations since the first generation in 2007, the e-smart is Germany’s most successful electric car by far. It is also very popular among Daimler AG employees who have covered more than 1.5 million zero-emission kilometres to date within the framework of the electric mobility project “charge@work”. Travelling to Stuttgart from any part of Germany is easy, thanks to the excellent autobahn and rail system.  On our most recent visit we took in the very impressive Mercedes-Benz Museum.

As you walk up to the front doors of the museum your anticipation grows for what lies inside the great glass building, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.   It doesn’t matter if you are a car enthusiast or not – there’s plenty of interesting barrier-free displays to keep adults and children occupied for hours. Displays are in German as well as English, and guided tours are presented in an abundance of languages thanks to the (included) portable self-guided tour device with headphones. For a very reasonable €8 (children are €4) you get hours of enjoyment, a self-guided tour and a nifty Mercedes-Benz lanyard as a souvenir – not bad at all! ( €1 is approximately $1.35 Cdn)

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class establishes new segment

Stuttgart, Jan 14, 2013

 Mercedes-Benz CLA 220 CDI, (C117), 2012

The CLA is set to establish a new segment, with world-leading aerodynamics, avant-garde coupé design and available 4MATIC™ all wheel drive. As a new four-door coupé, it follows the idea of the CLS, whose design concept has spawned more than its fair share of imitators since its debut in 2003.

“We aim to reach new target groups with the CLA – including those who never intended driving a Mercedes.”

 – Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales and Marketing

“The response to the Concept Style Coupé was overwhelming. The most frequent comment by far was ‘Please put this car into series production.’ That’s precisely what we are doing now,” notes Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management at Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “The CLA is a car that does not confuse ‘middle range’ with ‘middling quality’. Its sporty design underscores the sporty side of the Mercedes-Benz brand.”

In keeping with its sporty positioning, the CLA will be available with a high-torque turbo engine, sports suspension and 4MATIC™ all-wheel drive. The technical highlights of this new design icon include a new world record in aerodynamics for series production automobiles and numerous driving assistance systems, including advanced COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST.

This radar-based assistance system provides the possibly distracted driver with visual and acoustic warnings of identified obstacles and prepares Brake Assist for precision braking. Braking is initiated as soon as the driver steps emphatically on the brake pedal. When an impending danger of collision is identified, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST calculates the precise braking force ideally needed to avoid an accident and makes the best possible use of any distance remaining. As a new feature, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST affords protection from typical rear-end collisions in dangerous traffic situations in the CLA from a speed of only 7 km/h (previously: over 30 km/h).

The dimensions of this striking compact mid-range coupé are (length/width/height: 4630/1777/1437 millimetres). In keeping with the digital lifestyle of the CLA’s social media-savvy target group, Smartphone’s can additionally be fully integrated into the vehicle’s display and operating system.

Following a brief appearance on the eve of the NAIAS in Detroit (January 14-27, 2013), the CLA will have its official world premiere at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin (January 15-18, 2013). The new CLA will be available in Canadian dealerships in September 2013.

Priced from $34,000 in Canada ($30,000 in the U.S.), the CLA will be a hot seller- so get your orders in now…
