Briton on top as Frenchman claims 2016 title
Alex Lynn dominated this afternoon’s Sprint Race in Abu Dhabi, claiming the final win of the 2016 season with an experienced, rapid run from lights to flag ahead of Johnny Cecotto and Sergey Sirotkin, while further back Antonio Giovinazzi could manage no better that P6, handing the title to teammate Pierre Gasly.
Top three in the title battle lead the way in opening session
ART Grand Prix’s Alexander Albon took first blood in the final round of the 2016 GP3 Series season by posting the fastest lap of the Free Practice session at the Yas Marina Circuit. The Thai racer’s best laptime of 1:56.885 was one tenth clear of fellow title rival Antonio Fuoco (Trident). Series leader Charles Leclerc was third.
GP3 Series organisers are pleased to announce the 2016 calendar for the upcoming season. Once again, the Series will be contested over a total of nine rounds – all of which are support events to the Formula One World Championship. Seven rounds will be held on European soil, with two flyaway events concluding the campaign. There is a new venue on the calendar with the addition of Sepang in Malaysia to the category.

The Frenchman held a comfortable lead going into the race and got the better of second-placed Riccardo Ragazzi. He did so in the best way possible: taking Race 1 in this final round at Yas Marina, the circuit in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
ART Grand Prix tester fastest in Yas Marina
Trident’s Antonio Fuoco quickest overall in Yas Marina
Trident tester and Ferrari Academy Driver Antonio Fuoco was quickest overall on day two of post-season testing at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. His best laptime of 1:55.135 was 0.058s faster than Arden International’s Jake Dennis in the morning session. Jack Aitken also from Arden, posted the fastest time of the afternoon session with 1:55.164.
Monegasque rookie Charles Leclerc was fastest overall on day one of testing at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The ART Grand Prix tester’s best lap of 1:55.209 was almost half a second clear of his nearest opposition Antonio Fuoco (Trident) – which was set in the afternoon session. Matthew Parry – also having made the switch to test for the 2015 runners-up squad Trident; was quickest in the morning.
On track for the last test sessions of the 2015 season
As motorsport keeps running as quickly as a single-seater car on-track, the teams and drivers of the GP2 and GP3 Series will be back rolling once again just a few days after the completion of the 2015 season. A three-day session is scheduled on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of December at the Yas Marina venue in Abu Dhabi.
