The Italian was air lifted to hospital, and it was later announced he has suffered thoracic trauma and multiple rib fractures.

A breathtaking Race 1 at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” on Saturday afternoon saw Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) take advantage of three big crashes ahead of him to secure maximum points, with Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) also on the podium.

Manufacturers ups and downs at Donington

Will history repeat itself for the teams at the UK WorldSBK?

Aprilia recorded eight podiums at Donington, but they are yet to win their first race here. They have finished second three times, the last one was in 2013’s Race 2 with Sylvain Guintoli. Last year Aprilia’s best results were recorded by Lorenzo Savadori: 6th in Race 1 and 4th in Race 2.
