United Autosports have sold their first Ligier JS P3 to a UK team, Tockwith Motorsport.
Tockwith Motorsport, based in North Yorkshire, will enter the inaugural Prototype Cup race at Snetterton on 8-9 October with Phil Hanson and Nigel Moore. They then intend to take part in the full 2017 Prototype Cup season, with their ultimate aim being a European Le Mans Series entry in the future.

Martin Brundle joins United Autosports for Le Mans LMP3 race
The former Formula One driver and current Sky F1 commentator will drive one of the team’s Ligier JS P3 cars in the hour-long race – a support event at the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours on 18 June. Martin will coincidentally race the same Onroak Automotive manufactured chassis his son, Alex, drives in the European Le Mans Series – the car that won the team’s maiden ELMS race at Silverstone earlier this month (16 Apr).

United Autosports has just finished restoring the last kart Ayrton Senna is understood to have ever raced. Zak Brown purchased the 1981 DAP kart at a Bonhams Auction in January and following a six month rebuild, United’s other co-owner Richard Dean shook down the rebuilt kart last week (3 August).

A damp track initially necessitated “wet” treaded tyres in qualifying on Saturday afternoon before the 30-car field switched to slicks. Cole, who had been as high as sixth, nevertheless ended up a fantastic seventh quickest – earning United Autosports its best ever BTCC start slot and the highest-placed Toyota.
Now aims for further success
Against the odds, the Anglo-American team has won a race against time to rebuild the badly damaged Toyota Avensis of James Cole. An opening lap collision just eight days ago at Silverstone required repairs in short to the roll cage, seat mounts, B post, sills, rear quarter panel and both right hand doors.
Jim Geddie scores maximum points available at penultimate GT Cup round
Jim Geddie started all three races from second on the grid, hampered only by a Radical sports prototype which was in a class of its own, and therefore ineligible to score championship points. In the first race of the weekend, Jim had to serve an additional 50-seconds during the mandatory pit stop as a result of his previous successes. He was unable to claw back such a huge deficit but finished fourth at the flag.
