Newey comes back to win in wet at Summit Point

Newey leads in the wet

Brandon Newey recovered from an early race off at Summit Point to put in a comeback drive on a drying race track, racing down the leaders and then inheriting the lead when Jeremy Grenier spun to take his third win of the 2012 F1600 Formula F Championship Series season for Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/Agajanian in the No. 98 Mygale/Honda. Grenier finished second ahead of Matias Koykka, who won on Saturday. More importantly, the victory delivers the Championship lead back to Newey.

La Rocca Takes Summit Point Victory, Inches Closer to Title

La Rocca fought hard and then took off for the win

F2000 Championship Series logoRobert La Rocca had to find his way around Kevin Kopp for the race lead at Summit Point Motorsports Park, but made the pass stick and then pulled away for his ninth F2000 Championship Series win in 11 races in 2012. Wyatt Gooden held on to finish second, denying La Rocca a Championship-clinching day, with Kopp rounding out the top three.

Koykka wins wild Summit Point race on last lap

Koykka benefitted from last lap drama to take the win

The F1600 Formula F Championship Series produced another thrilling, shoot-out of a race at Summit Point with the top four cars trading the lead back and forth throughout the 20-lap event. Finnish driver Matias Koykka came out on top, inheriting the lead and first place in the points standings when the leaders made contact on the last lap in his Spectrum/Honda for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing.

Newey to F1600 pole at Summit Point

Brandon Newey grabbed the F1600 Formula F Championship Series pole at Summit Point Motorsports Park by just two thousandths of a second over his Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/ Agajanian teammate of Garett Grist. Newey, the Championship leader, extends his points margin over Matias Koykka from eight to 11 with three bonus points for pole in his Mygale/Honda. Shae Davies, who has won three of the last four races, followed in third position.

Morcom back with Primus

Morcom is back in a RFR for 2012.

F2000 - Watkins Glen - Nathan Morcom (DPO-Rondo RFR) F2000 Championship Series logoNathan Morcom has confirmed that he will contest this year’s F2000 Championship Series in the USA. It will be the 19 year-old Sydney driver’s second campaign in the ‘development’ openwheeler series, which will run over seven double-header rounds from April until October. As in 2011, Morcom will team with Primus Racing with backing from building material suppliers Direct Plasterboard Outlet and Rondo, and motorsport fashion brand Racer Inc.

Minor wins at Summit Point over Miller and Searcy

2008 Masters Class champion Tim Minor passed three cars en route to winning round ten of the F2000 season at Summit Point. Minor sneaked past championship contenders Matthew Inge and Chris Miller on the start and then took leader Remy Audette on the outside going into turn one on a restart to take the lead. Chris Miller and JDC MotorSports took pole from this afternoon’s F2000 race at Summit Point with a record-setting lap of 1:11.103, stealing the pole away from Remy Audette, who clocked in at a 1:11.107, just four-thousandths of a second slower, showcasing the level of competition in the F2000 paddock. Inge passes Miller, wins race one at Summit Point (+results)

On a beautiful day in West Virginia, Matthew Inge passed Chris Miller and inherited the lead when Tim Minor spun to notch his second win of the season for St. Clair Motorsports and gained back a few valuable points on championship leader Chris Miller who finished second. Miller started from pole and gained bonus points for fastest race lap. Fabio Orsolon finished third with Remy Audette, hanging on with a broken differential and Victor Carbone rounding out the top five.
