Alonso ‘deserves’ title more than Vettel – de la Rosa
Fernando Alonso would be the worthiest winner of this year’s world championship.
That is the view of the Spaniard’s countryman Pedro de la Rosa, who drives for the backmarker team HRT. Ferrari’s Alonso appeared the outright favourite to secure his third drivers’ crown this year until very recently, when first-lap crashes at Spa and Suzuka allowed reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel to close the gap to just 4 points.

Raikkonen says Spanish conspiracy theory ‘rubbish’
Kimi Raikkonen has dismissed as “rubbish” a conspiracy theory about Fernando Alonso’s retirement from recent grands prix.
A Spanish newspaper correspondent said last week he saw a possible link between the fact Lotus drivers Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean were involved in the incidents that knocked former runaway championship leader Alonso out of the races at Suzuka and Spa respectively.

Webber warns Grosjean to run after Singapore shunt
All eyes will be on Romain Grosjean as the beleaguered Frenchman kick-starts his formula one season on Sunday.
After a string of incidents in 2012, the Lotus driver was finally banned for a race at Monza recently for causing the first corner chaos at Spa. He has qualified a solid eighth for his comeback race in Singapore, well ahead of his teammate Kimi Raikkonen and alongside Red Bull’s Mark Webber on the grid.
The Frenchman duly sat out Monza as his punishment for causing the first corner crash at Spa, and returns to full competitive action this weekend in Singapore. Sep 20
Grosjean arrives in Singapore with new coach
Back on track after his Monza ban, Romain Grosjean has travelled to Singapore with a new coach, according to France’s RMC Sport.
The report said Grosjean, who was banned by the FIA following the first corner crash at Spa and in the wake of a string of similar incidents in 2012, is now working with Benoit Campargue.

Grosjean did not apologise for Spa crash – Sauber
Peter Sauber has slammed as a “lie” suggestions Romain Grosjean and Lotus apologised for last weekend’s Belgian grand prix crash.
Fernando Alonso, who narrowly escaped injury when the now-banned Grosjean’s Lotus flew across his cockpit at Spa, confirmed that the French driver subsequently said sorry by text message. And Lotus boss Eric Boullier said Grosjean has also spoken to the others caught up in the shunt, including Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez.

Lotus delays ‘the device’ debut until Suzuka
Lotus will not race its highly-anticipated double DRS-inspired ‘device’ at least until Suzuka next month.
The Enstone based team intended to use the straightline speed-boosting system at Spa, but Friday’s practice sessions were a washout. And Lotus will also not fit the device to Kimi Raikkonen and Jerome d’Ambrosio’s cars at Monza, due to the unique low-downforce configuration of the historic track.
