“You never lose your roots” – Monisha Kaltenborn
Monisha Kaltenborn is almost a week into her post as the first female team principal in Formula One. With a total of four podium places so far, the Sauber F1 Team has enjoyed a very successful 2012 season. The forthcoming Indian Grand Prix takes the new boss to her native country. There’s plenty to talk about.
Sauber F1 Team fans don’t even have to wave goodbye to Formula One excitement during the summer break.
From today the team’s website – www.SauberF1Team.com – offers a unique interactive 360° movie. It features a lap on the Circuit de Catalunya with Sergio Pérez at the wheel of the Sauber C31-Ferrari. While ‘Checo’ is driving and in the pits with the mechanics working on the car, users can change the angles they view from by using the mouse or the arrows on their key boards.
On time, as if for a race start, the brand new Sauber C31-Ferrari left the garage today in bright sunshine in Jerez.
At 13:45 hrs sharp Kamui Kobayashi went out on the Spanish track to put in the first laps with the 2012 contender for filming purposes. After today’s promotional day, it will also be Kamui who will start the test programme tomorrow before handing over to his team mate, Sergio Pérez. Sergio will be on duty on Wednesday and Thursday, on Friday the Japanese will be in the car again.
Unveiling & Roll-out
Today, Monday, the Sauber F1 Team launches its new car for the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship. Drivers Kamui Kobayashi (25) and Sergio Pérez (22) unveil the Sauber C31-Ferrari at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain, where on Tuesday official Formula One pre-season testing will get underway. For filming purposes the C31 will cover its initial laps today.
Oerlikon is now a Premium Partner of the Sauber F1 Team.
The high-tech group is intensifying its involvement with the traditional Swiss racing team, and the Oerlikon logo will be prominently displayed on both sides of the upper engine cover of the new Sauber C31-Ferrari as well as on team gear and equipment.

Drivers Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Pérez will unveil the Sauber C31-Ferrari at 11am. Both of them, as well as Team Principal Peter Sauber, CEO Monisha Kaltenborn, Technical Director James Key and reserve driver Esteban Gutiérrez, will be available in press conferences.
