WEC: 6 Hours of Shanghai – Porsche bounces back in Free Practice 2

The 1m45.111 lap, posted by Webber early in the session, was over 2 seconds quicker than the current lap record

2015-09-17-1563 After trailing the two Audi R18s in the first 90-minute Free Practice session for the 6 Hours of Shanghai earlier today, the two Porsche 919 Hybrids returned to the top of the timing screens this afternoon, with the no17 Porsche of Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley posting the quickest time of the day.

Porsche maintain perfect 2015 pole record

It was Porsche’s eighth consecutive WEC pole position, a run that stretches back to the 6 Hours of Shanghai last November

2015-09-18-1822 Porsche maintained its 100% success rate in taking pole position in the 2015 WEC as Marc Lieb and Neel Jani topped the average times in the 20-minute session at COTA this evening.

Porsche leave it late in FP2 night practice at COTA

Porsche claimed the top position in both of today’s Free Practice sessions

2015-09-17-3111It looked like the no8 Audi R18 e-tron quattro was going to post the fastest lap of the second 90-minute Free Practice session with Lucas Di Grassi’s 1m47.684, but Timo Bernhard in the No17 Porsche 919 Hybrid beat it with just three minutes left on the clock.

Porsche claim front-row at Nurburgring (+photos)

The two Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 racers will start from the front row for tomorrow’s 6 Hours of Nürburgring

2015-08-29 - SaturdayRomain Dumas and Marc Lieb shared the qualifying driving duties to register a best two lap average of 1m36.473s in the No 18 Porsche 919 Hybrid. This eclipsed the second Porsche 919 Hybrid entry, driven by Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard, by just 0.069s.

Porsche head Audi in incident packed FP3 at Nürburgring (+video)

Porsche fought back in Free Practice 3 at Nurburgring this morning with a conclusive 1-2 in the 60-minute session

Shell fuels the innovation behind 2015 Le Mans achievements

Porsche’s historic 17th victory at the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours saw a landmark in the development of sports-prototype racing.

The 2.0 litre V4 turbocharged internal combustion engine fitted to the Porsche 919 Hybrid, allied to an 8 megajoule hybrid energy system, was the smallest to have triumphed at the fabled Circuit de la Sarthe for 37 years.
