Nigel Melker glorious winner of FA1 2014 championship

Due to rain, the FA1 field started behind the safety car for the last race of the season.

After two laps, the safety car went in as Dani Clos (ESP) was leading the field. Within a lap, championship leader Nigel Melker overtook Clos and made his nickname come true: he proved to be the rain man.

Nürburgring : Nigel Melker wins first FA1 race

The first Formula Acceleration 1 race at the Nürburgring was won today by Nigel Melker.

The Dutch driver started from pole, but had to struggle to win this race. Mirko Bortolotti (ITA) was involved in a crash and was therefore very happy with his second place.

Racing Engineering will be giving four drivers the opportunity to drive their cars on the 4.655 km Spanish circuit that is a traditional venue for out of season testing. On Tuesday the 30th of October the Brazilian André Negrão and Canadian Gianmarco Raimondo will be in the Spanish team’s cars and on the following day, Wednesday the 31st, it will be the turn of Dutchman Nigel Melker and Argentinian Facundo Regalia. Sam Bird snatches dramatic home victory

Having led until the closing stages of race two, Marco Sorensen (Lotus) must have thought he had victory in the bag.

The British driver’s victory, at Silverstone, is his second of the season, and puts him back into second place in the championship standings, five points behind leader Robin Frijns (Fortec Motorsports). Antonio Felix da Costa finished second to take his first podium in the competition, while Jules Bianchi came home in third.
