Usually, it’s a true dilemma, on a hot mid-summer weekend: should you go swimming or attend a thrilling motor-racing event.
This weekend, however, you can have it all: from 10th to 12th July, when DTM makes its stop at Zandvoort, Netherlands, the refreshing North Sea waves are just a stone’s throw away from the unique 4.307-kilometre dune circuit with its challenging and versatile track layout.
At Zandvoort in The Netherlands, Mattias Ekström scored the first victory for Audi in the 2014 season.
With his Audi RS 5 DTM, he ended up ahead of already-crowned DTM champion Marco Wittmann. At the finish, the Swede had an advantage of 7.4 seconds. With Martin Tomczyk, another BMW driver claimed the final podium slot.
The ninth round of the 2014 DTM season will be held from 27th to 28th September at Zandvoort, Netherlands.
The Chinese round that originally was supposed to be held at Guangzhou, on this weekend, had to be cancelled as the modifications necessary for erecting the circuit proved to be far more extensive than planned.

Since its foundation back in 2003, the Formula 3 Euro Series represented the stepping stone to Formula 1 for more than two dozens of young talents – as test or GP drivers. Maiden fastest qualifying time in the Formula 3 Euro Series
At the 4.307 kilometres long race track at Zandvoort in The Netherlands, German rookie drivers Sven Müller (Prema Powertea, 1:30.320 minutes) presented himself in excellent shape. In Formula 3 Euro Series qualifying, he set the fastest time ahead of Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam, 1:30.369 minutes) and Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport, 1:30.392 minutes). As Müller also came out on top in the ranking of the second-fastest laps, he will also start the weekend’s first race from pole position.
Just a week after the Nürburgring weekend, the Formula 3 Euro Series teams and drivers travel to Zandvoort, Netherlands.
At the 4.307-kilometre circuit embedded in the North Sea dunes, Pascal Wehrlein (Mücke Motorsport) wants to confirm his good shape by adding more podiums to his tally. Thanks to his first Euro Series win he secured at the Nürburgring, the 17-year old German rookie worked his way up to second position in the championship behind the far more experienced Spaniard Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam).
Caterham F1 Team has confirmed that Reserve Driver Giedo van der Garde will be taking part in the City Racing Rotterdam event on 26th August in Holland.

Both the Caterham F1 Team race drivers have taken part in previous City Racing events, with Heikki Kovalainen driving a Renault F1 car in 2008 and Vitaly Petrov also in a Renault F1 car in 2010 in the Netherlands’ largest Formula 1 event.
