The second WSBK race at Laguna Seca was as hot on track as the air temperature as after two red flags and restarts, Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) came out victorious in the 7 lap sprint race that put an end to the ninth round of the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship, which saw a total 49,408 attendants during the three days.
The on track action for the seventh round will start tomorrow with the first free practice sessions for all classes.
A selection of eni FIM Superbike World Championship riders were involved today in an unusual type of race, when they jumped on pedalos (paddle boats) to challenge each other at the public beach in Misano, during the Media Event organised for the seventh round of the season.

Jorge Lorenzo claimed his third consecutive MotoGP™ victory at Misano after the Yamaha Factory Racing star won the San Marino Grand Prix ahead of the Repsol Honda duo of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa who finished in second and third place respectively.
Biaggi has a wonder day as he extends his lead
Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) left Misano with the sound of his fan club members’ voices ringing in his ears after he completed a home double that will long be remembered by all 67,000 weekend spectators. He pushed his career win total to 19 today. These were Biaggi’s second and third wins of the year, but the first since the opening race in Australia, way back in February.
Tissot-Superpole at the eni FIM Superbike World Championship round at Misano
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) was a clear winner in Tissot-Superpole at the eni FIM Superbike World Championship round at Misano, his fifth such success in 2012 thus far. His quickest lap time of 1 minute 35.375 seconds was the best of the weekend to date, with Sykes over 0.6 seconds faster than the next best rider, Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team). Sykes now has a career total of seven Superpole wins, putting him level with famous names in SBK racing like Regis Laconi and Noriyuki Haga.
Eni FIM Superbike World Championship
Reigning World Champion Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) and former Misano race winner Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) wrestled with the stopwatch at Misano in the first qualifying session of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, with Checa coming out on top by a slim margin of 0.047 seconds.
Misano hosts World Superbike for the 21st time.
The eni FIM Superbike World Championship comes to Italy for the third time this year at a crucial point in the season, with the San Marino Round at the Misano World Circuit the venue for what promises to be one of the hottest rounds of the year, and not just because of the encroaching summer weather.
Auto GP will hold the first Official Test of its 2012 season in Monza, on the 2nd of March.
After that some of the Series teams made the most of the winter time to organize some private sessions, going from the warm temperatures of Valencia and Estoril to the cold ones of Misano, the Italian track will host the first collective session of the year.
Misano superpole report
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) used all his experience and pace to take a popular pole position at Misano, overcoming wet but slowly drying conditions better than his peers to take Kawasaki’s first pole on the new Ninja ZX-10R. His last pole was in similar conditions at Imola last season on the previous Kawasaki model.
