Nunez would settle for third, behind the second-place Brownson.

Coming into the 2012 Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport, Tristan Nunez of Performance Tech held an 18-point lead over Mikhail Goikhberg of JDC Motorsports in Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda competition. And in a series that awards 20 points to the race winner, Goikberg was looking to take advantage of Nunez’s unfortunate qualifying experience from earlier in the day.

Scarallo won in style at Road America
Jonathan Scarallo survived an epic drafting battle between four cars and then took the lead with two laps to go and gapped Daniel Erickson to take his first career F2000 victory in style for R-Sport at Road America. Erickson came home second for Primus Racing/Quantum Mechanics with Keith McCrone, Scarallo’s R-Sport teammate, finishing third and taking the Masters Class win.

Patrick McKenna capitalized on polesitter Sage Karam’s mistake and posted his second victory of the season in the “Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda” Sunday afternoon on the Thunderbolt Raceway course at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Polesitter Sage Karam of Nazareth, Pa. led all 50 laps and posted a 7.364-second victory over Raphael Abbate of Sao Paulo, Brazil Saturday afternoon in Round 4 of the “Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda” on Iowa Speedway’s 0.875-mile trioval.
