Home race for Silver Arrows: The German Grand Prix is returning to the Hockenheimring, 29th – 31st July 2016
Stuttgart: #F1isBACK! Silver Arrows drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton will line up for one of the home races of MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS at the Hockenheimring from 29th to 31st July 2016. To mark the 90th anniversary of the German Grand Prix, Mercedes-Benz will give all fans up to 90 euros discount off the normal ticket price for seats in the Mercedes grandstand.
The DTM thriller at Spielberg still is the topic of the day and there is just another week to go to the third DTM race meeting at the Lausitzring (03rd to 05th June)
Nonetheless, 11 DTM drivers from the Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz camps use this weekend for the excursion to another, spectacular event. Instead of relaxing at home on the couch they meet the ultimate motor-racing challenge: the 24h race at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife.
During a DTM weekend one often witnesses things happening that just can’t be explained in two simple sentences

The fifth Steering Committee meeting with representatives of the Japanese Super GT promoters, DTM promoter ITR and all the Japanese (Honda, Nissan, Toyota) and German (Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz) manufacturers involved was held on 11th May, in Tokyo.

Probably, no-one had expected this after qualifying on Saturday: even though they didn’t quite make it onto pole position – which was taken by Paul Di Resta with his Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM – BMW is strong on Sunday.

At the end of the long off-season, the only official tests offered the three manufacturers involved in DTM the first opportunity to lock horns, this year. Following the four intense days of testing, one thing can be taken for granted for the season kick-off that will be held at the same venue from 06th to 08th May: detecting a favourite is virtually impossible.

The Briton is pone of the best-known faces of the series and is about to start into his 13th DTM season. In 2005, at the age of 24, Paffett secured his first and only DTM title, to date. In his DTM years, the 35-year old experienced ups and downs galore and consequently, he can hark back to a huge wealth of experience.
On the second of the four days of testing at the Hockenheimring, the manufacturers opted for different strategies
While Mercedes-Benz tested with the same four drivers as on day one – Maximilian Götz, Daniel Juncadella, Esteban Ocon and Lucas Auer – Audi and BMW let the drivers execute the work who weren’t involved on Tuesday.
The day following the roll-out on Monday represented the start into four hot days of testing
From Tuesday to Friday (05th to 08th April), the only official ITR tests of the season offer the drivers the opportunity to prepare themselves and their vehicles in two testing sessions per day – from 09.00 to 12:00hrs and from 14:00 to 18:00hrs (all CEST, one hour later than BST) for the things to come.
The DTM vehicles racing for Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all are based on production cars of the respective manufacturers
Consequently, a comparison between the DTM cars and their production sisters certainly would be an attractive option. The DTM management was of the same opinion and consequently opted for developing a spectacular new qualifying format for the 2016 season: In the run-up to every race of the forthcoming season, every driver may complete two free laps: one with his racing car and the other with the production car it is based on.

Stuttgart: Special mission for the Formula One and DTM drivers in Stuttgart city centre. On Friday afternoon, Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, world championship runner-up Nico Rosberg and the eight DTM drivers of the brand with the three-pointed star dropped by on fans at the market square in Stuttgart, where they signed autographs and gave interviews on a show stage.

Stuttgart: The curtain is going up on the 2016 motor racing season. The brand with the three-pointed star officially opened the new motor racing year at a special media event in the “Hallowed Halls” in Fellbach near Stuttgart. Formula One and DTM drivers and their management teams looked ahead to the tasks that face them this year against the backdrop of treasures from the successful motor racing heritage at Mercedes-Benz.
