ART Grand Prix’s Esteban Ocon made an important step in his fight for this season’s title: The Frenchman came into the final round of the year with a two point deficit; but following an epic qualifying session, Ocon edged out Arden International’s Kevin Ceccon by just 0.016s.
Series leader Luca Ghiotto takes fourth win of the season
An unbelievable start and opening lap from Italian Luca Ghiotto: The Trident ace started from P6 on the grid after a poor qualifying by his exceptionally high standards, but by Turn One, the Series leader was up to second. He then pulled off a stunning move on title rival Esteban Ocon at Turn 13 for the lead of the race. The ART Grand Prix and Mercedes backed rookie finished 1.5s behind Ghiotto with Arden International’s Emil Bernstorff in third.
ART Grand Prix’s Esteban Ocon takes pole in action packed qualifying
Frenchman Esteban Ocon secured his first pole position in GP3 in a dramatic qualifying session at the Sochi Autodrom. The ART Grand Prix and Mercedes backed driver topped qualifying at various times and won the battle for pole by a mere 0.040’s over Jenzer Motorsport’s Matheo Tuscher. Kevin Ceccon (Arden International) was third whilst Series leader Luca Ghiotto will start seventh.
ART Grand Prix’s Esteban Ocon tops opening session in Russia
Frenchman Esteban Ocon posted the quickest time in a wet free practice session at the Sochi Autodrom: the ART Grand Prix and Mercedes backed driver’s laptime of 2:09.319 was two tenths faster than Jenzer Motorsport’s Ralph Boschung. Marvin Kirchhöfer was third.
