Canadian confirmed for Young Driver Test with Marussia Virgin Racing
Robert Wickens made his Formula One Grand Prix weekend debut on Friday, at the Yas Marina Circuit, as the Canadian participated in Friday morning’s free practice session with Marussia Virgin Racing ahead of Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Toronto racer ended his maiden F1 session just half a second off team-mate Timo Glock’s best time as he drove the team’s MVR-02 for the first time on the 5.55km circuit.

Marussia Virgin Racing, the first Anglo-Russian F1 racing team, today announced that it has deployed the leading global mid market ERP solution, Sage ERP X3, to streamline its core business processes and more effectively integrate the financial and commercial operations across its business.
F1’s class of 2012 will take some more shape at the F1 Commission meeting this week in Geneva.
It was already known that Team Lotus, set to be Caterham next season, and Enstone based Renault – to be renamed Lotus – will likely have their applications rubber-stamped on Thursday. The Sunday Times also reports that Virgin could be set for an official name change.
Canadian Champion looking ahead to Abu Dhabi and Formula One Test
Canada’s Robert Wickens hasn’t had much time to reflect on his title-winning campaign, where he raced his Marussia Motors-backed entry to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title, but prior to heading out to the Indian Grand Prix this weekend with Marussia Virgin Racing, the 22-year-old Formula One reserve driver reflected on his first European open-wheel racing title, the competition he faced and his upcoming Formula One test in Abu Dhabi in November.
