Zytek Nissan power has been used to win the World Endurance LMP2 Team and Drivers Championships. By finishing fourth at this weekend’s Six Hours of Bahrain, eighth round of the 2013 WEC, the OAK Racing trio of Martin Plowman, Bertrand Baguette and Ricardo Gonzalez secured the coveted titles.

The Dane remains more than ever the victory record holder at Le Mans, while Allan McNish scores his third victory in La Sarthe in fifteen years. Their French team mate Loïc Duval,who took the pole, adds the Le Mans 24 Hours to the Sebring 12 Hours and Tourist Trophy.
Fastest LMP2 time for Repton developed power plant
A Zytek Nissan-engined car grabbed the LMP2 class pole position for the Le Mans 24-hours last night. In the closing seconds of final qualifying, Olivier Pla in the OAK Racing Morgan, which features a Zytek developed and serviced Nissan VK45DE engine, recorded the fastest lap in class with a time of 3mim 38.621sec.
Three chassis and seven engines entered
Zytek is looking forward to a record participation in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race. No fewer than seven prototypes, almost one third of the LMP2 category, will be powered by a Zytek developed and serviced Nissan VK45DE engine, while three Zytek chassis will be among the favourites to win the class.
At the 6 Hours of Donington
A combination of excellent strategy, pace and reliability helped contribute to OAK Racing claiming their first European Le Mans Series victory of the season at the 6 Hours of Donington. The French team’s #35 Onroak Automotive designed and built Morgan-Nissan 2012 LMP2 of Olivier Pla, Bertrand Baguette and Dimitri Enjalbert ran faultlessly throughout a race that also saw the #24 Judd-powered sister car come home sixth.

Lotus LMP2 Second Day at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón continued to represent the Stars and Stripes well in France, as Flying Lizard Motorsports claimed the GTE Am pole for the 80th 24 Hours of Le Mans. The California-based team earned the provisional pole during the first official qualifying session on Wednesday and could not be topped in two subsequent qualifying sessions on Thursday.
More than 25 drivers with formula one experience will be on the grid at this weekend’s 80th running of the fabled 24 hour Le Mans race.
Near the front, in the premier LMP1 prototype class, will be Allan McNish and Marc Gene, driving for Audi. Scot McNish raced in F1 with Toyota in 2002, while Gene drove for Minardi and is still a Ferrari test driver. Toyota has since left F1 and for 2012 has entered Le Mans, and the Japanese marque’s number 8 entry is a grand prix-superteam featuring Anthony Davidson (Super Aguri), Sebastien Buemi (Toro Rosso) and one-off 1999 Minardi driver Stephane Sarrazin.
What have Lola been concentrating on with regards to the B12/60 LMP1 car?
The Lola design and engineering team have been looking at overall efficiency improvements to the aerodynamic surfaces of both the LMP1 and LMP2 Lola designs. The initial CFD and wind tunnel studies took place last autumn in Lolas on-site 50% scale facility in Huntingdon, UK.
With signatech Nissan in WEC
French racer Franck Mailleux has today confirmed his participation in the 2012 World Endurance Championship with Signatech-Nissan. Franck will be taking part in the LMP2 category of the new WEC together with the team as reigning LMP2 champions of last season’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC).

Kodewa and Lotus choose Lola LMP technology for 2012
Competing under the team name Lotus with a Lotus engine housed in a brand new Lola LMP2 coupe the team will contend the 2012 FIA WEC which kicks off in Sebring on March 17th. The team of Kodewa, which is running the programme, comprises of experts with a vast pedigree in not only endurance racing but also F1, DTM and lower formulas.
Second team to race 2011’s most successful LMP2
Success breeds success. A second team is to run one of Zytek’s championship winning Z011SN LMP2 prototypes in this year’s European Le Mans Series and, entry permitting, at Le Mans itself. Kent-based Jota Sport has announced this week that it will join Greaves Motorsport to race 2011’s most successful LMP2 car.
