Full field forced some modifications to the Mid-Ohio regulations
The Indy Racing League has amended a sub-section of its IZOD IndyCar Series rulebook to accommodate 27 entries for this weekend’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. The starting field for each race is a maximum of 28 with the exceptions of 33 for the Indianapolis 500, 26 for Toronto and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (which includes two provisionals), and 24 for Brazil based on available pit lane space. However, rule 8.1 (E) (5) (d) was revised to: Mid-Ohio – 27 cars.
In American Le Mans Series action Saturday at Long Beach Grand Prix
Genoa Racing recorded its second podium finish in as many races in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron when drivers J.R. Hildebrand and Tom Sutherland finished third in the LMPC class and seventh overall Saturday at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

908 diesels continue showing strong pace in Sebring practice
For the second straight session, Team Peugeot Total’s No. 08 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was the quickest car in practice for the 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. Nic Minassian turned in the fastest lap around 3.7-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway at 1:45.371.

After a history-making 2009 Atlantic Championship season in which she became the winningest woman in series history, Simona De Silvestro had a successful two-day test in an HVM Racing/Team Stargate Worlds IndyCar at Sebring International Raceway last week with an eye toward a possible run in the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series. “She was very impressive,” said HVM Racing owner Keith Wiggins.

American J.R. Hildebrand celebrated Independence day at Watkins Glen on Saturday (July 4) in perfect fashion, scoring his second Firestone Indy Lights win of 2009. Joining the AFS Racing driver on the podium in Round Eight were Vision Racing’s James Davison and Bryan Herta Autosport’s Felipe Guimaraes.
