iSport International’s driver goes quickest in Practice Session this morning
The final round of the 2011 GP2 Asia Series opened this morning at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola with two practice sessions, giving drivers more track time to learn the new layout. It was Sam Bird at iSport International who set the best laptime of the two sessions in 1:28.312, two tenths faster than Giedo van der Garde at Barwa Addax Team.

The 2011 GP2 Asia Series resumes this week for Round 2 at Autodromo Dino e Enzo Ferrari in Imola, Italy. In light of the current events happening in Bahrain and the decision from Bahrain Motorsport Federation to cancel the two remaining meetings in this season, GP2 organisers’ priority was to add another venue to the calendar and chose Imola to host the final round of the fourth season.

The second day of GP2 Series post-season testing at Yas Marina Circuit saw a few changes in the drivers’ entry list with some racers switching teams and new ones joining, namely Pal Varhaug at Dams, Daniel Macinelli at Rapax, Dani Clos at Ocean Racing and Luca Filippi at Coloni.

Less than two weeks after the conclusion of the 2010 season, the GP2 Series paddock flew back to Abu Dhabi to conduct four days of post-season testing. Today was an important milestone in GP2 Series history: for the first time the twelve teams entered in the category for 2011-2013 ran their brand new GP2/11 cars at circuit Paul Ricard under clear blue skies and on a 3D configuration track.
