GP3 - Patric Niederhauser (Arden International) What a race and what a last lap! Swiss star Patric Niederhauser was triumphant in Race 2 at the Sochi Autodrom at Round 8 of the 2014 GP3 Series, holding off Koiranen GP’s Dean Stoneman and ART Grand Prix’s Marvin Kirchhöfer in a stunning three-way fight. Series leader Alex Lynn was fifth with the battle for the GP3 title going to the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Stoneman wins first ever GP3 race at Sochi

GP3 - Dean Stoneman (Koiranen GP) The smile could not have been any bigger for Dean Stoneman – 31 points in the bag after converting a dominant Race 1 win from pole position at the inaugural GP3 race in Russia at the Sochi Autodrom. Stoneman jumps up to third place in the Drivers’ Standings after his impressive points haul. ART Grand Prix’s Marvin Kirchhöfer and Alex Fontana completed the rostrum.

Stoneman sears to first GP3 pole in Sochi

Koiranen GP’s Dean Stoneman dominates qualifying in Russia
GP3 - Dean Stoneman (Koiranen GP) British star Dean Stoneman carved up the opposition in today’s qualifying for Round 8 of the 2014 GP3 Series season. The Koiranen GP ace produced a lap almost half a second quicker than his nearest rival to clock his debut pole position. ART Grand Prix’s Alex Fontana and Marvin Kirchhöfer were second and third whilst Series leader Alex Lynn will start in eighth.

A race of strategy saw drivers switching from wet to slicks before the lights went out, but it was Brit’ Stoneman who handled the pressure to drive a mature race to be triumphant in Belgium. Ghiotto reigns supreme in Spa qualifying

Trident’s Luca Ghiotto storms to first pole position in debut GP3 weekend
GP3 - Luca Ghiotto (Trident) That’s how to make a first impression! Debutant Luca Ghiotto from Trident impressed the field in a wet session to claim a maiden pole position in his first race weekend by three tenths of a second. Carlin’s Emil Bernstorff will join the Italian on the front row, with Koiranen GP’s Jimmy Eriksson in third.

Rain had fallen overnight and again prior to the thirty minute qualifying session. The 26 drivers fed onto the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on wet Pirelli tyres for Round 6 of the 2014 GP3 Series. Carmen Jorda was an early victim to the conditions; the Spaniard ran wide at Turn 14 and was beached in the gravel, a premature end to her session.
