DAY REPORT: 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, round 12 of 13

Giandomenico Basso has followed in the wheel tracks of rallying legend Colin McRae by winning Rallye Sanremo for a second time. The result, his sixth victory in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, followed a dominant performance on the asphalt event at the wheel of an M-Sport Ford Fiesta RRC.






Dani Sordo has claimed victory on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse, round four of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, following a faultless performance in a MINI John Cooper Works S2000 on his debut in the all-action series.
Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion Andreas Mikkelsen leads Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse following the opening three stages around Ajaccio this afternoon. However, with 2.8s covering the leading drivers, Mikkelsen has a big fight on his hands in his bid to win his first IRC event on asphalt and extend his title advantage. 



The waiting is over. Less than three months since Rallye Monte-Carlo hosted the thrilling start to Intercontinental Rally Challenge season five, the all-action series resumes with Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Ingles next week (14-16 April). 




Al-Attiyah has said the opportunity to win rallies outright was one of the major influences behind his decision to enter the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this year.
