Minor started from first place, his second pole and second win of the weekend
Tim Minor briefly lost his race lead on a messy restart but took it back one lap later and pulled out a gap in the No. 88 Citation to take his second win in two days and sweep the F2000 season opener at VIR for Ski Motorsports.

Robert La Rocca notched his 10th win of the year
After starting from pole and briefly losing the lead, Robert La Rocca got around Wyatt Gooden and fended off Gooden on a restart, with the two cars making contact coming to the green and white flags. La Rocca would go onto take his 10th win of the 2012 F2000 Championship season, breaking the existing win record with a bit of drama. La Rocca had already locked up the Championship prior to the race, adding even more points for the pole, and yet another win. Niki Coello finished second while Gooden hung on for third with a damaged car on the last lap.

Coello stayed out of trouble to win in the rain
Niki Coello stayed out of trouble in the wet at Summit Point Motorsports Park to take the first non-Van Diemen win in F2000 Championship Series history in the No. 81 RFR ahead of Wyatt Gooden. Meanwhile, Robert La Rocca finished third to clinch the 2012 F2000 Championship Series title with two races remaining.

La Rocca fought hard and then took off for the win
Robert La Rocca had to find his way around Kevin Kopp for the race lead at Summit Point Motorsports Park, but made the pass stick and then pulled away for his ninth F2000 Championship Series win in 11 races in 2012. Wyatt Gooden held on to finish second, denying La Rocca a Championship-clinching day, with Kopp rounding out the top three.

La Rocca can clinch the title this weekend
With four races to go in the 2012 F2000 Championship Series season, points leader Robert La Rocca looks set to clinch the 2012 title this weekend during a doubleheader at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. The Venezuelan, however, will face a deep field, perhaps the biggest of the year, including Mid-Ohio winner Wyatt Gooden and Summit Point experts Kevin Kopp and Tim Minor.

Robert La Rocca held off a very brief restart challenge and led all 18 laps from pole, taking his eighth win of 2012 with ease, and extending what is already a massive Championship points lead in the F2000 Series. La Rocca won round nine of the 2012, 14-race season, in the No. 10 HP-Tech Van Diemen, finishing ahead of John LaRue and Wyatt Gooden.

With just six races to go and seven wins in eight races so far, Robert La Rocca can mathematically clinch the 2012 F2000 Championship this weekend, although it will take another dominating performance mixed with a bit of luck. The HP-Tech driver has been the class of the field in 2012, and has a runaway points lead ahead of what is becoming a tight battle for second, led by Wyatt Gooden.

La Rocca took his third pole in four races at Road Atlanta.
Robert La Rocca continued the success following his third straight win of 2012 on Friday, by vaulting to pole in an early morning qualifying session for round two of the Road Atlanta F2000 Championship Series weekend, smashing the existing track record with a lap of 1:24.373. Lining up next to the HP-Tech driver will be Wyatt Gooden, who started from pole on Friday but had to settle for second after La Rocca wrestled away the lead.

La Rocca leads a tight battle for the lead
Robert La Rocca made it three wins in three starts in 2012, winning at Road Atlanta on Friday morning after trading the lead back and forth throughout the 18-lap race with rookie Wyatt Gooden, who started from pole. La Rocca eventually separated from Gooden, who went on to finish second, his best F2000 performance to date for Quantum Racing Services, with Kyle Connery following in third place. All three drivers were in Van Diemens.

Wyatt Gooden took his first F2000 pole
Rookie Wyatt Gooden, who had never driven at Road Atlanta prior to today, took pole by a tenth of a second for round three of the 2012 F2000 Championship Series season, setting a lap of 1:24.907 to break the track record in the No. 6 Quantum Racing Services Van Diemen. Robert La Rocca, who leads the points coming off two wins at VIR, lines up second ahead of Fabio Orsolon, Kyle Connery and Chris Livengood.

La Rocca was quick again.
Robert La Rocca continued his success from a double win at VIR, setting fastest lap over three 25-minute practice sessions on Thursday morning at Road Atlanta, ahead of qualifying and rounds three and four of the 2012 F2000 Championship Series season, driving the No. 10 HP-Tech Motorsport Van Diemen. In the third and final session of the morning, La Rocca turned in a lap of 1:24.964, well under the track record and ahead of Fabio Orsolon, Niki Coello, Wyatt Gooden and Kyle Connery.

Morcom is in sixth place overall, and third in the rookie standings
Nathan Morcom remains in contention for the F2000 Championship Series Rookie of the Year title after two seventh placings in a wild day’s racing at Lime Rock Park. The Sydney teenager kept his cool despite problems on and off the 2.4km (1.5-mile) Connecticut racetrack in the 11th and 12th rounds of the American ‘development’ openwheeler series.

Livengood passed Audette for the lead
After losing valuable points in the Championship earlier in the day with a DNF at Lime Rock, Chris Livengood bounced back, winning for the second time this year. The sophomore F2000 driver did exactly what he needed to take the fight to the final rounds of the season at Watkins Glen – take points away from Remy Audette, who finished second ahead of Tim Paul.

Audette survived turn one drama
Remy Audette again narrowly avoided first turn melee and won his fifth race of the 2011 F2000 Championship Series season to jump out to an enormous points lead over Chris Livengood in round 11 of 14. Tim Minor followed in second, putting in the comeback drive of the year, and coming from dead last on the restart. Alegra Motorsports’ Angel Benitez notched his best result of 2011, completing the podium. Craig Clawson and Thomas Schwietz followed.
