Hoosier Racing Tire and Formula Race Promotions (FRP), which organizes the Atlantic, F2000 and F1600 Championship Series, today announced a three-year contract renewal which will see Hoosier remain the official tire of all three Championships through the 2019 season.

Seven points-paying race weekends are scheduled for teams and drivers, in addition to a new pre-season exhibition weekend in Florida. The big news is the expansion of the Atlantic Championship Series to a 14-race/seven-weekend format, while the F1600 Formula F Championship Series will grow to a 21-race/seven-weekend schedule.

Matias Koykka bounced back from his fourth place starting position to take his fourth win of the 2012 F1600 Formula F Championship Series at Watkins Glen for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. The Spectrum/Honda driver from Finland thus pulls out a 20 point lead (with drops calculated, per Series rules) over Brandon Newey, who finished second, ahead of Koykka’s teammate Neil Alberico, setting up a Championship showdown in the season finale scheduled for Sunday.
Jesse Lazare made his debut in the F1600 Championship Series this past weekend aboard his Piper DF5/Honda prepared by BGR Team Grote.

In his third race in his young career, Lazare had to adapt to his third different series in as many races as he also had his first go on the series spec Hoosier tire. A mere eight weeks past his 15th birthday Jesse was up against a very stout field of far more experienced racers.
