Revealed to team partners on site, streamed live on YouTube and broadcast live on Sky Sports News in the UK, the E21 will contest the 2013 FIA Formula 1 World Championship with drivers Kimi Räikkönen (E21 n°7) and Romain Grosjean (E20 n°8).

Barely a day after Kimi Raikkonen won Sunday’s thrilling grand prix at Yas Marina, the track will return to life on Tuesday when the final three day ‘young driver test’ begins. Six teams have already run their young driver days this year, so just Red Bull, McLaren, Lotus, Sauber, Toro Rosso and Caterham have stayed behind in Abu Dhabi for the session.
Eric Boullier has admitted it is unlikely Jerome d’Ambrosio will make another appearance on the grand prix asphalt in 2012.
Lotus’ Boullier-managed Belgian reserve driver replaced Romain Grosjean at Monza recently, while the team’s French regular served his one-race ban. D’Ambrosio is the team’s official reserve driver, who at the start of the 2012 season was slated to make some Friday morning practice appearances in the black Lotus.
Stefano Domenicali has identified former Ferrari champion Kimi Raikkonen as a real threat for the 2012 title.
It is Ferrari’s new number 1, Fernando Alonso, who is comfortably leading the drivers’ standings by 37 points after Monza. The Spaniard has been on the podium 7 times this year so far, including 3 wins.
Belgian Jerome d’Ambrosio will contest this weekend’s Italian grand prix in the place of Romain Grosjean.
There was speculation Lotus might overlook its official reserve driver for the Monza seat, after team regular Grosjean was given a one-race ban by the FIA for causing the spectacular first-lap crash at Spa last Sunday.
All eyes will be on Lotus’ already-competitive black and gold E20 at high speed Spa and Monza.
Technical boss James Allison confirmed recently the Enstone based team intended to debut its so-called ‘double DRS’ system in Belgium. Sky television pundit Ted Kravitz said the device, so far only tested in Friday practice sessions, works at any point of a circuit over 150mph.
D’Ambrosio said it is not clear if he will get the opportunity to drive the E20 in Friday practice at another grand prix this year.
