Fabrizio and Haslam score in Kyalami thrillers

Two very different races delivered two types of riveting spectacle for the enthusiastic fans at Kyalami

The opening race was taken by a rejuvenated Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) in front-running style. Race two victor Leon Haslam (Suzuki Alstare), on the other hand, battled it out right to the end, with the top four riders all within a second of each other after 24 intense laps. After four tests sessions over two days

Michel Fabrizio posted the quickest time of all at the official pre-season tests at Phillip Island, a 1’31.650, set on the final morning on his Ducati Xerox machine. Shane Byrne (Althea Ducati) was second quickest, on a 1’31.662, while Jakub Smrz (Pata B&G Ducati) was one of the riders to improve in the final session, taking his Ducati to third best time, only 0.030 seconds from Fabrizio. Privateer Ducati rider Carlos Checa set the quickest time of the first day of track action at the official tests in Phillip Island, taking his Althea Ducati to a 1’31.959 lap time. Just two days after the Imola showdown and the Superbike circus is back on the road, travelling this week to France and the “Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.” The French circuit has looked kindly on Haga over the years and has rewarded him with several race wins since 2004. One of the most exciting Superpoles of the season saw Ducati Xerox’s Michel Fabrizio power to his first ever career success at the Imola circuit in Italy. The man from Rome clinched the pole with a time of 1 minute 47.735 seconds right on the final lap of the session, taking it out of the hands of Ben Spies (Yamaha World Superbike), quickest until then, by just 0.043 of a second. Italian flavour for opening Brno qualifying

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) and Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) powered to the top two slots on the opening day of World Superbike qualifying at Brno in the Czech Republic. The multiple world champion was the only rider to dip under the two minute mark, when he set the quickest time of 1 minute 59.982 seconds right at the very end of the session.
