RENAULT e.dams end Formula E testing on top at Donington
With the 2015/16 FIA Formula E Championship’s highly-anticipated return edging ever closer, RENAULT e.dams achieved all they set out to over the course of the three official pre-season tests at Donington Park and finished on a high by topping the times during this week’s final two days (August 24/25).
Abt Schaeffler first team to break 1:31s barrier at Donington
Daniel Abt set a new Formula E lap record as testing resumed at Donington Park. The Abt Schaeffler driver used the full 200kw qualifying mode to record a lap of 1:30.250, comfortably quicker than Sebastien Buemi’s previous best of 1:31.050s, set on the final day of last week’s test.
New Mahindra signing excited by variety of season two technology
The opening official pre-season test at Donington this week was the first opportunity to compare the new powertrains introduced for season two. One of the eight new manufacturers is Mahindra, which has contracted McLaren to supply a revised version of its motor for its M2Electro, which made its public debut this week in the hands of Bruno Senna and new signing Nick Heidfeld.
Sykes does the Donington double for third time in a row
Lap Record tumble as the Briton dominates. Rea and Davies to complete the podium. Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) made it two wins from two starts as he dominated WorldSBK race 2 at Donington Park to equal Carl Fogarty’s six race wins record in the series.
Current top-5 WorldSBK riders anticipate the round ahead
The official press conference of WorldSBK round six took place today at Donington Park Circuit, involving the current top-5 riders in the championship standings, four of them being native to the UK. KRT entries Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes, together with factory Aprilia duo Leon Haslam and Jordi Torres and Ducati’s Chaz Davies answered a variety of questions regarding the upcoming race weekend.
Donington Park scene of latest encounter
The legendary Donington Park circuit will play host to the sixth round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend. The English venue is located in the East Midlands, 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Derby and 30 kilometres (19 miles) from Leicester. It was inaugurated in 1931 and became a permanent racing circuit two years later.
Jim Geddie scores maximum points available at penultimate GT Cup round
Jim Geddie started all three races from second on the grid, hampered only by a Radical sports prototype which was in a class of its own, and therefore ineligible to score championship points. In the first race of the weekend, Jim had to serve an additional 50-seconds during the mandatory pit stop as a result of his previous successes. He was unable to claw back such a huge deficit but finished fourth at the flag.
