Tio Ellinas (Strakka Racing) has won the first race of the weekend for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series at Silverstone

Formula Renault 3.5 Series - SilverstoneOn Saturday, the Cypriot claimed his first pole position and victory in the category. It is also the first triumph for his team since Will Stevens at Jerez last year. Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports) and Matthieu Vaxiviere (Lotus) completed the podium. The Racing Steps Foundation driver now has a 29-point lead over the Lotus F1 Team Junior protégé.

Tio Ellinas (Strakka Racing) put in the best lap of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series collective tests run at Silverstone.

The Cypriot set the reference time of 1:41.494 to lead the way ahead of Red Bull Junior Team driver, Dean Stoneman (DAMS), the fastest rookie on Friday and Lotus F1 Team Junior protégé, Matthieu Vaxiviere (Lotus). Championship leader, Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports) was fourth quickest. In the morning, Brazilian Pietro Fantin (International Draco Racing) was a top the time sheet.

Formula Renault 3.5 Series: Vaxiviere wins race 2 at the Red Bull Ring (updated)

Matthieu Vaxiviere (Lotus) has scored his third success this year in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.

Starting from pole, the Lotus F1 Team Junior protégé conserved the lead to win race 2 on the day, ahead of Racing Steps Foundation driver Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports) and rookie Roy Nissany (Tech 1 Racing), who strode on to the podium for the first time in the category.

Formula Renault 3.5 Series: Oliver Rowland’s perfect start (updated)

Formula Renault 3.5 Series leader, Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports) came up big on Sunday at Budapest.

After a perfect launch from fifth place on the grid, the Racing Steps Foundation protégé overtook pole winner Matthieu Vaxiviere (Lotus) for the lead and went on to control the passing attempts of his rival throughout the 27 lap of the race. With his runner-up finish, the French driver now trails the Englishman by 16 points in the championship. Also starting from row three, rookie Gustav Malja (Strakka Racing) scored his maiden podium result in the category.

GP3 - Patric Niederhauser (Arden International) Swiss star Patric Niederhauser made the perfect getaway to snatch the lead from Nick Yelloly (Status Grand Prix) at the start of final race of the 2014 GP3 Series. The Arden Motorsport retained the lead despite a safety car early on to record his third win of the year. Newly crowned GP3 Champion Alex Lynn crossed the line in third as his team Carlin clinched the Teams’ Champions trophy after leading the standings from the opening round.

GP3 - Dean Stoneman (Koiranen GP) Brit Dean Stoneman continued his excellent run of form with a superb win in race one at the Yas Marina Circuit. The Koiranen GP ace got the better of pole-man Marvin Kirchhöfer (ART Grand Prix) and held on to secure victory despite pressure from the German. Dino Zamparelli joined the pair on the rostrum in third.
