Norman Nato tops Day 1 session at Jerez

Racing Engineering man leads the way in second GP2 pre-season test
GP2 - Norman Nato (Racing Engineering) The GP2 Series field is back on track this week for the second 2016 pre-season test session at Circuito de Jerez, Spain. The paddock was greeted by blue skies but cold temperatures. When the pitlane turned green, it was Alex Lynn who fed onto the track first but he was closely followed by his teammate Nicholas Latifi and the rest of the pack.

GP2 - Pierre Gasly (PREMA Racing) Red Bull protégé Pierre Gasly concluded this week’s pre-season testing on top of the timesheets: he lapped the Spanish track in an impressive laptime of 1:27.386 during this morning’s session ahead of Norman Nato and Antonio Giovinazzi. GP2 - Sprint race cancelled due to barrier damage This afternoon’s sprint race at Yas Marina was cancelled due to substantial damage caused to the barriers after an accident on the first lap of the race. With the red flag shown on the first lap and the damage being unable to be repaired in time the event was closed, and no points will be awarded.

GP2 - Raffaele Marciello, Stoffel Vandoorne, Mitch Evans Stoffel Vandoorne has handed his team the perfect leaving gift by closing out his championship winning season with victory in the final feature race tonight in Abu Dhabi. His seventh win of the year also claimed the record for most wins in a season, to his obvious delight as he celebrated on the podium alongside Raffaele Marciello and Mitch Evans.

From P6 on the grid, the RUSSIAN TIME ace was able to move up to the front of the field thanks to a mature drive. He crossed the finish line ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne and Alex Lynn.

GP2 - Stoffel Vandoorne, Nobuharu Matsushita (ART Grand Prix) It was a glorious day for Stoffel Vandoorne and Nobuharu Matsushita as the pair finished first and second in today’s action packed feature race at Sakhir. With this result, the teammates gave ART Grand Prix the 2015 Teams’ title. Mitch Evans completed the podium.
