Matias Koykka was well under the track record and fastest
Championship contender Matias Koykka paced both practice sessions ahead of the doubleheader season finale at Watkins Glen for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. However, his main rival, American Brandon Newey, was second quick in the last session by just a couple thousandths of second in the Mygale/Honda for Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/Agajanian.

Newey out front at Lime Rock
Brandon Newey survived a 20-lap F1600 Formula F Championship Series battle with Matias Koykka and eventually separated, breaking the draft, surviving a late race restart and winning his second race of the year after Koykka won in the morning during a doubleheader day at Lime Rock Park. Jeremy Grenier finished a career best second in the Citation/Honda, with Joe Colasacco third, completing the podium in a Van Diemen/Honda.

Koykka took his second win in three races
Matias Koykka started from pole and never looked back, leading all 30 laps to his second F1600 Formula F Championship Series victory in three races, driving the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. Koykka made it a perfect points morning, setting fast lap, to win over Brandon Newey, who leads the points, and Jeremy Grenier.

Koykka made it three poles so far, in 2012
Matias Koykka made it three poles in a row, remaining perfect in qualifying in 2012 and leading the way for race one qualifying around the 1.53-mile seven-turn Lime Rock Park road course in the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. Koykka will lead the field to green from the SOS Children’s Village Pole with a fast lap of 53.5 alongside Brandon Newey, who qualified second.

The expanded 2012 schedule is a response from a season-ending survey sent out by Series officials.
Just over two weeks away, the second edition of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series is set to grow in 2012, adding another race weekend (six in total, for 12 races) and more teams, drivers, chassis and engines.

32 cars on the initial entry list
The F1600 Formula F Championship Series will embark on history this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway for the inaugural rounds of the new national pro series with 32 cars on the initial entry list. Nine chassis manufacturers are represented with 12 Honda Fit and 20 Ford Kent engines.

By leading every session during USF2000′s two-day test at O’Reilly Raceway Park
After Andretti Autosport’s Sage Karam dominated every session at the USF2000 National Championship’s season-opening doubleheader at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Patrick McKenna said he and his team, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing, had some work to do if they wanted to stop Karam from doing the same thing on May 29 at the Night Before the 500 at O’Reilly Raceway Park here.

Takes car to a whole new level
Manufacturers, team representatives, engineers and mechanics were pleased with what they saw yesterday at Sebring International Raceway as the USF2000 National Championship tested four compounds of Cooper Racing Tires and several components that will be used in the series’ top class, the Championship class, this year.
