“I was glad to take up Electric GT’s invitation to come and drive the car that the team are working on ahead of their first season in 2017”
Former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok was hugely impressed with the race-prepared Tesla Model S that will contest the new Electric GT Championship in 2017, after testing the car at Circuit Calafat last week.
The Championship Auto GP Formula Open 2016 had to interrupt its course
Some drivers, at the wheel of the Lola B05/52 Auto GP, have decided to contest the Boss GP series (a very similar category), disputing with very good results the races in Monza (07/03/2016) and Assen (08.07.2016 ), in the Formula Class.
The proud and long relationship between the TT Circuit Assen and the MotoGP™ World Championship will continue for ten more years
Assen has been a part of the World Championship since it came into existence in 1949, the only circuit to have been a part of the series during each of its 68 years. The original circuit was used until 1954 and measured 16.54km, reduced to 7.7km in 1955 and then to 6.1km in 1984. 2006 saw the historic track become the circuit it is in 2016, 4.5km of history and high-speed action.
WorldSBK Race 2: Roll the Dice
KRT rider Jonathan Rea took another incredible win in the Netherlands in Race 2 as a half-wet half-dry race saw tyre decisions play the key role. Joined on the podium by teammate Tom Sykes and local hero Michael van der Mark, Race 2 was characterized by nervous glances at the sky as the riders dealt their cards.
Wet weather characterises Day 1 as low grip shuffles the deck
After a weather forecast that seemed to hint Day 1 in Assen may be hit by the first real wet weather of the season, FP1 at the TT Circuit Assen got underway with rain falling and a wet track under grey skies. With the forecast for the rest of the weekend still unsure, the usual lack of track action in wet conditions was replaced by a good amount of activity on the circuit and riders were keen to begin working on a wet setup should it be needed for either of the WorldSBK races this weekend.
WorldSBK: Van der Mark, Get Set…GO
The paddock returns north for the 25th anniversary of WorldSBK in Assen. The TT Circuit Assen is a track that breathes history. Racing in the area began over 90 years ago, and the first ribbons of tarmac that would go on to form the modern circuit were first constructed in 1955, before the modifications took place that sculpted it into what it is today: a track of legend, where memories have been made and tempers frayed.
Round 8: Dutch MotoGP™ – Qualifying
In a Qualifying Practice 2 session in which every participant set a lap time quicker than the old Assen pole position record, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi produced one his greatest qualifying performances in recent years to set a new Assen Circuit Best Lap record of 1’32.627 to claim pole position for tomorrow’s Dutch Grand Prix.
Record lap gives Savadori STK1000 Pole in Assen
Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) will start tomorrow’s fourth round of the World Supersport Championship from Pole Position after a closely fought qualifying session at the 4.542km TT circuit in Assen saw him edge current championship leader Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) by 0.137s.
All except two of the twenty-three starters at the Dutch TT
Last weekend’s Dutch TT at Assen was affected by variable weather conditions that resulted in the race being a flag-to-flag affair at which Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez won ahead of Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa on the other Repsol Honda RC213V.
