Defending Red Bull Air Race World Champion Matthias Dolderer of Germany leads fellow pilots Nicolas Ivanoff of France and Martin Šonka of the Czech Republic on a pre-race flight over the new 160,000-square-meter Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, UAE ahead of the tenth consecutive season opener at the city’s famed Corniche.

The team continued their run of podiums in 2016 when Alex Lynn, Shaun Lynn and Richard Meins brought their Gulf Marine liveried #23 Ligier JS P3 home in second place after 12 hours of racing round the Yas Marina circuit. Finishing in third place were Jim McGuire, Matt Keegan, Nico Rondet and former Formula One driver Stefan Johansson in the #22 Ligier JS P3.
Briton quickest on Day 3 in opening session
Jordan King set the fastest laptime in today’s morning session on the last day of post-season testing at Yas Marina Circuit. With a laptime of 1:49.880, the MP Motorsport driver lapped 0.523s quicker than Racing Engineering’s Louis Delétraz. Johnny Cecotto (Rapax) completed the top three.
Trident driver quickest in opening post-season test day
Raffaele Marciello set the best laptime in today’s post-season test session at the Yas Marina Circuit. The Italian lapped the track in a 1:49.937 at the wheel of a Trident car during the afternoon session ahead of Nobuharu Matsushita (ART Grand Prix) and Oliver Rowland (DAMS).

The future of Formula 1 became clearer with the start of the 2017 Abu Dhabi tyre test including Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, with Lewis Hamilton making a surprise return to action just two days after missing out on the world title.
November 30th to December 2nd
Three days after the 2016 GP2 season ends all the teams will be back in action in Abu Dhabi for the annual post-season test that starts on Wednesday, 30th November and finishes at the end of Friday, 2nd December. We are pleased to reveal that the two drivers who will be running in the Racing Engineering GP2 cars for this three-day test are Switzerland’s Louis Delétraz and Sweden’s Gustav Malja.

Frenchman uses alternate strategy for final pole
Pierre Gasly strategised his way to possibly his most important pole position, holding his nerve and staying put in the pitlane while every other driver stormed onto the Abu Dhabi circuit when the track ran green before finally emerging as his rivals were returning, giving himself a clear track to drag home a dominant fifth pole position of the season ahead of Sergey Sirotkin and Artem Markelov, with his title rival and teammate Antonio Giovinazzi having to make do with 6th position.
