It was excitement at stepping into Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and nervous anticipation of the competition ahead for the 33 teams of students from 22 countries at the F1 in Schools World Finals Abu Dhabi 2012 yesterday, the opening day of the event.

Caterham F1 Team has confirme that it will be running its current Reserve and Test Drivers at the forthcoming Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, taking place at the Yas Marina Circuit from 6th – 8th November. 27 year old Reserve Driver van der Garde will be in the car for days one and two of the test with 21 year old Test Driver Rossi taking over for day three.

Red Bull’s two teams look set to test alone in Abu Dhabi later this season.

Until recently, the now-traditional young drivers’ test – giving inexperienced drivers the chance to drive current F1 cars amid the sport’s strict testing limits – was scheduled to take place as per usual at the Yas Marina circuit in November.

To take hard-earned podium in Gulf 12 Hours

In one of the tensest finishes to any endurance race, the United Autosports trio of Scot Ryan Dalziel and Venezuelan pair, Enzo Potolicchio and Alex Popow drove an inspired race in the inaugural running of the Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi to finish in a fighting third place.

Pirelli will officially launch its 2012 season later this month, according to the Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat.

The report said the Italian marque’s president Marco Tronchetti Provera will be present at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit when this year’s tyres and markings are revealed on 25 January.

Alexander Rossi impressed with Team Lotus F1 test and ready for next step in his career

American, Alexander Rossi was pleased with his first full day with Team Lotus in the T128-04 at ‘Yas Marina Circuit. The American driver supported by AirAsia and Team Lotus drove last weekend at ‘Yas’ for Caterham AirAsia in the GP2 finale where he is finished 13th and 7th. Rossi is a graduate from World Series by Renault in 2011, finishing 3rd overall in championship with 2 wins and 7 podiums.

Czech driver Jan Charouz will participate in the young driver test which is taking place from today Tuesday until Thursday the 17th of November at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Charouz will be behind the wheel of the F111 tomorrow and will step aside, that same day, for Nathanael Berthon once the Czech driver will complete the programme established for him by the team.

Longer DRS might not prevent boring Abu Dhabi race
Abu Dhabi’s state of the art Yas Marina circuit has offered to house formula one teams. “You have great technical expertise, if you look at what is happening in Abu Dhabi, with the huge diversification into technical industries,” track CEO Richard Cregan is quoted by the Gulf News.
