Reigning North American and Canadian Rally Champions, driver Antoine L’Estage (of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec) and his co-driver Nathalie Richard (of Halifax, Nova Scotia) will contest the remaining events of the Rally America series at the wheel of a WRC Mitsubishi Lancer.

Robert Kubica will contest the second-tier WRC2 world rally championship at the wheel of a Citroen in 2013.
The former Renault and BMW driver has been out of formula one and full-time motor sport since a near-fatal rallying crash just before the 2011 season. The news follows the 28-year-old’s recent test in a Mercedes DTM car, raising speculation he might contest the premier German touring car series this year.

Volkswagen has played down reports it is making plans to enter formula one in 2015.
The German weekly Sport Bild said the Wolfsburg based carmaker giant was planning to enter F1 with Sauber, or even considering getting involved in chassis design at its state of the art Porsche Motorsport Centre in Weissach.

Building on the tremendous support received from drivers in the FIA’s F1, WRC, WTCC, GT1 and WEC championships, the federation’s Action for Road Safety campaign received the endorsements of the 168 drivers taking part in the 24 Heures du Mans as they stood shoulder to shoulder for a special group photograph with FIA President Jean Todt .

Kimi Raikkonen has revealed he would like to contest August’s rally of Finland.
F1′s 2007 world champion returned from world rallying to grand prix racing this year. “Of course I wanted to do better. But I’m not finished. I want to go back, whether for my career or after I don’t know,” the 32-year-old told Motorsport News, according to the official WRC website.

Volkswagen, the German carmaking giant, has played down suggestions it could launch a formula one project some time soon.
“There are always rumours about Volkswagen and formula one,” said Jost Capito, who has taken over from Kris Nissen as the head of the Wolfsburg-based company’s motor racing boss.

Petter Solberg says he is finding it hard to express in words his delight at signing a one-year contract to drive for Ford in next season’s World Rally Championship. Solberg, from Norway, will contest all 13 rounds of the 2012 title race in a Ford Fiesta RS WRC co-driven by Briton Chris Patterson.

Sebastien Loeb says he is relishing starting his bid for his ninth World Rally Championship title on Rallye Monte-Carlo
The event, which begins in the French city of Valence on Tuesday 17 January, returns to the WRC trail for the first time in three years. Loeb says the rally is “mythical” and that its return is another boost to the championship’s popularity.

Fourteen hours of live action, captured by two helicopters and onboard cameras
The World Rally Championship’s trial of live internet streaming from Rallye de France Alsace earlier this month proved such a hit with fans and teams that it could pave the way for similar coverage of some or all of the WRC’s 13 rounds in 2012.

Stages from this week’s Rallye de France Alsace will be streamed live and exclusive on the World Rally Championship’s official website, wrc.com, as part of a pilot project to investigate future digital opportunities for the all-action series.
