Yas Marina, 16-17 November

The 2010 Formula One season may be over after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix but that doesn’t mean that the on-track action has to stop. As part of the official young driver tests, Virgin Racing will be giving three drivers the opportunity to drive the 2010 CFD-designed VR-01.

It rained overnight in Barcelona and the track was wet on Saturday morning when the new GP3 cars were running. But at the same time the sun was shining and drying the Circuit de Catalunya surface, amid forecasts for almost certain rain on Saturday and also Sunday.
Nick Wirth has confirmed reports that his company will foot the bill for the major redesign of Virgin’s 2010 car. Wirth, 44, is the new British team’s technical director, engaged through his separate Oxfordshire-based engineering group Wirth Research.

Cosworth was further buoyed by the performance of its CA2010 engine during last week’s four-day test session at the Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain, in spite of the intermittent and often heavy rain that blighted the opening days. This was the third of four official pre-season tests, and followed an encouraging track debut by the Cosworth engine in Valencia and the first Jerez test.
After intermittent rain disrupted the opening of Wednesday’s Jerez test, the weather is expected to be even worse on day two.
