The team currently known as Virgin has moved to allay the fears of sponsors who worry Sir Richard Branson is pulling out of formula one.
Next year, the team will revert to the chassis name of its Russian supercar partner Marussia, after two seasons as Virgin Racing and regular circuit appearances by the famous brand’s figurehead Branson.

He admitted that the first step for Pic is a seat in November’s young driver test in Abu Dhabi.
French GP2 driver Charles Pic’s manager has confirmed talks about securing a place in formula one next year for the 21-year-old. Pic, fourth in this year’s GP2 championship, has been linked recently with a Toro Rosso test in Abu Dhabi next month, and possibly a race seat with Virgin in 2012.

Sunshine gave way to rain at Spa-Francorchamps on Thursday, as F1 prepares for a typically unpredictable Belgian grand prix.
In the notoriously fickle Ardennes region, the sport’s figures were surprised as they arrived at the fabled circuit to find a bright and dry paddock. “Good news — really warm and sunny at Spa,” said Virgin Racing on its official Twitter channel.

F1′s struggling teams Virgin and HRT are making plans for the future.
At Virgin, now working with ousted Renault engineer Pat Symonds and McLaren, there are also plans for a new bespoke factory, and the big rumour is that it could be built at Silverstone. The Daily Mail reports that meetings with Silverstone circuit chiefs are taking place this weekend.

Four drivers tie in the standings after an epical battle for the title
Lucas di Grassi won, but Indycar ace Bia Figueiredo stole the show by grabbing the second heat at the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions at Arena Sapiens in Florianopolis, Brazil. Di Grassi failed to finish the Sunday race, but the 25 points he collected with his victory on Saturday were enough to give him the first spot on the aggregate results even tough Felipe Massa, Rubens Barrichello and Bia Figueiredo have scored the same amount. Final positions were defined according to the race 1 order at the checkered flag.

Barrichello on pole for race 2 this Sunday
Lucas di Grassi drove a superb race to grab the heat 1 of the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs on Saturday night at Arena Sapiens in Florianópolis, Brazil. Still searching a seat in Formula 1 after his début for Virgin Racing in 2010, Di Grassi started on second spot and won a fierce battle against Felipe Massa and the polesitter Antonio Pizzonia, respectively second e third at the checkered flag.

Jerome d’Ambrosio is on the verge of securing his formula one race debut.
The 24-year-old completed the 2010 season as Virgin’s Friday morning driver in the place of Brazilian rookie Lucas di Grassi. Timo Glock is staying with the British team next year, and the Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure and La Libre say d’Ambrosio will almost certainly be his teammate.

This has the potential to severely damaging Formula One
In a modern world where image is everything, businesses are becoming increasingly concerned with how they are presented to the public. Companies can no longer get away with a pig headed arrogant attitude and in an age when people are in constant communication it appears that it is no longer sufficient to simply rely on a logo on the side of a car to advertise a company. This has the potential to severely damaging Formula One where sponsorship money keeps the wheels turning.

As an engine supplier following a three year absence
Last month’s exciting finale to the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship marked the end of Cosworth’s first year back in the sport as an engine supplier following a three year absence, and saw the Northamptonshire engineering firm maintain its record for 100% race reliability with the Cosworth CA2010 engine.

Branson leaves Abu Dhabi with AirAsia uniform
While Lotus Racing’s attention now turns to the young driver and tyre tests in Abu Dhabi, the team, AirAsia and their counterparts at Virgin Racing are busy preparing for Richard Branson’s inaugural flight as an AirAsia stewardess. In the midst of the celebrations on track last night Team Principal Tony Fernandes gave Richard an AirAsia uniform and pinned an AirAsia stewardess’ badge on the Virgin Racing boss and the two agreed how the bet would be settled.
Virgin on Friday confirmed reports that its 2011 car will not be in action at the first pre-season test at Valencia.
