Marussia on Wednesday finally confirmed reports Luiz Razia has completed the team’s 2013 race driver lineup.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, runner-up in last year’s GP2 championship, will mark the news by testing Marussia’s newly-launched MR02 car at Jerez on Wednesday. The 2013 vacancy, now filled by Razia, opened up recently when Marussia split with Timo Glock, citing the need for a sponsored driver.
Marussia team owner Nikolai Fomenko has confirmed speculation British rookie Max Chilton will make his formula one debut in 2013.
Fomenko, the head of Russian supercar Marussia who bought into the then Virgin team at the end of 2010, was asked by Russian journalists the identity of the driver replacing Caterham-bound Frenchman Charles Pic.
Timo Glock is expecting to be with Marussia for a fourth consecutive season in 2013.
But the German is also open to “the possibility” of a change. “It (an alternate team) would have to be a clear step forwards,” the former Toyota driver is quoted by DPA news agency. “But at the moment I am fulfilling my contract and so I am not in talks with anyone else,” added Glock.
Eric Boullier has admitted it is unlikely Jerome d’Ambrosio will make another appearance on the grand prix asphalt in 2012.
Lotus’ Boullier-managed Belgian reserve driver replaced Romain Grosjean at Monza recently, while the team’s French regular served his one-race ban. D’Ambrosio is the team’s official reserve driver, who at the start of the 2012 season was slated to make some Friday morning practice appearances in the black Lotus.
Belgian Jerome d’Ambrosio will contest this weekend’s Italian grand prix in the place of Romain Grosjean.
There was speculation Lotus might overlook its official reserve driver for the Monza seat, after team regular Grosjean was given a one-race ban by the FIA for causing the spectacular first-lap crash at Spa last Sunday.

The governing body’s president Jean Todt has signed a deal with Addax GP2 and GP3 team owner Alejandro Agag and other Hong Kong-based investors to promote the new single seater series that will debut in 2014. The cars, to be developed by official tester and Brazilian di Grassi, will be powered only by lithium batteries and electric energy.
D’Ambrosio said it is not clear if he will get the opportunity to drive the E20 in Friday practice at another grand prix this year.
And the candidates are lining up.
Ferrari has played down rumours it is close to immediately ousting Felipe Massa, insisting it is possible the struggling Brazilian will still be in a red car next year. On Twitter, the famous Italian team said the latest rumours – including a claim that former Virgin driver Jerome d’Ambrosio is a candidate to replace Massa in 2012 – are “funny”.

Just one season into his career, the Brazilian lost his Virgin seat, but he remains one of the sport’s most highly respected test drivers, and was hard at work for tyre supplier Pirelli earlier this week at Jerez.
Maria de Villota is not ruling out appearing during a Friday morning practice session some time in 2012.
The 32-year-old Spaniard made international headlines in March when she signed with Marussia as a test driver. She subsequently admitted, however, that – despite travelling to all the grands prix with the former Virgin team this year – she is “not the reserve driver”.
Jerome d’Ambrosio has revealed he could drive one of the Lotus cars during Friday morning practice sessions at some point in 2012.
The former Virgin driver, who is managed by Lotus boss Eric Boullier’s Gravity company, was appointed as the team’s third and reserve driver for this year. But, until now, it was not known if the role would involve Friday morning practice duties.
