Coello reflects on Third Place 2012 Championship
“Coming into 2012, the goal was to win” – Coello
Niki Coello came into his first full F2000 Championship Series season far from rookie status, with a collection of National Championships and hopes to contend for the title in his No. 81 RFR chassis. While the title would prove elusive, Coello collected podium after podium until scoring the first and only non-Van Diemen win in Series history in the pouring rain at Summit Point in August en route to a third place Championship effort.

La Rocca Puts Stamp on Season with Sweep at the Glen

After momentarily getting shuffled back to fourth on an exciting opening lap, 2012 F2000 Champion Robert La Rocca picked off two cars on lap one and then passed Rob Nicholas for the lead on the next lap to open up a huge gap en route to a record-breaking 11th win of the season for HP-Tech Motorsport. It was the fourth weekend sweep of the year for the Venezuelan in the season finale doubleheader at Watkins Glen International, winning ahead of Wyatt Gooden and Nicholas.

Short Qualifying Session Produces La Rocca Pole
La Rocca took another pole in a short qualifying session
In 14 qualifying rounds now complete for the 2012 F2000 Championship Series season, Robert La Rocca, the 2012 Champion, has put his No. 10 HP-Tech Van Diemen on pole 12 times. In the final qualifying round of the year at Watkins Glen International, a shortened session left a seven-minute shootout for drivers to run their fastest laps of the weekend, producing another La Rocca pole ahead of Wyatt Gooden and Rob Nicholas.

VIR Sweep for La Rocca and HP-Tech
La Rocca leads at VIR
Robert La Rocca made it a clean sweep at VIR with his second victory of the weekend, along with two poles and two fastest laps for his HP-Tech Motorsports team. La Rocca held off an early challenge from the Radon of Fabio Orsolon, and then another challenge later in the race from Tim Minor’s Citation before separating from the pack, winning over Niki Coello’s RFR and Wyatt Gooden in a Van Diemen.

Another VIR Pole for ‘The Rock’
La Rocca easily took another F2000 pole at VIR.
Robert “The Rock” La Rocca continued the momentum from Saturday’s victory and took his second pole in two days at VIR outpacing Fabio Orsolon’s No. 77 Radon by just under three tenths of a second in the No. 10 Van Diemen for his Ft. Lauderdale-based HP-Tech squad. Wyatt Gooden, who made contact with La Rocca on the opening lap of Saturday’s race, will line up third with Niki Coello in a RFR and Tim Minor’s Citation completing the top five.

La Rocca took his first win at VIR
Robert La Rocca led every lap in the F2000 Championship Series season opener at VIR from pole en route to his first career F2000 victory in the No. 10 HP-Tech Motorsport Van Diemen. La Rocca faced a brief challenge following opening-lap contact with Wyatt Gooden from Fabio Orsolon’s GTP Motorsports Radon before checking out on the 32-car field, and setting fast lap, ensuring all the Championship points for the day.

La Rocca edges Gooden for VIR pole
“I’m hoping we’ll have a clean race” -La Rocca
Robert La Rocca edged rookie Wyatt Gooden by four thousandths of a second in the closing stages of qualifying for race one at VIR to take his first career pole. The HP-Tech driver turned in a lap of 1:54.910 in the No. 10 Van Diemen, beating out Wyatt Gooden’s No. 6 Quantum Racing Services entry. The Radon of Fabio Orsolon will line up third ahead of Niki Coello’s RFR and Kyle Connery, also in a RFR.

La Rocca leads final practice at VIR

HP-Tech’s Robert La Rocca continued to dominate the time sheets at VIR, pacing final practice on Friday, with a top five that featured four different chassis. La Rocca’s No. 10 Van Diemen turned in a lap of 1:54.989 to top Wyatt Gooden’s Quantum Racing Services Van Diemen, and Fabio Orsolon’s Radon, followed by John LaRue in the Citation chassis and Chris Livengood’s John Walko Racing RFR.

The expanded 2012 schedule is a response from a season-ending survey sent out by Series officials.
Just over two weeks away, the second edition of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series is set to grow in 2012, adding another race weekend (six in total, for 12 races) and more teams, drivers, chassis and engines.

Rémy Audette wins the 2011 Championship!
F2000 Championship Series…
This weekend, Rémy Audette became the first Québec driver to ever win the F2000 Championship Series. With a big lead heading into the final double-header of the season, Audette was not happy just earning sufficient points to solidify his spot at the top of the series. He dominated the practices and qualifying on his way to finishing on the podium for both races.

Connery ends 2011 F2000 season with a win
Remy Audette is 2011 Champion
Kyle Connery took his sixth win of 2011, and second of the day, to end the F2000 Championship Series season with a daring move on 2011 Champion Remy Audette on a restart in round 14. Connery would run away from the pack, although the race did end under caution. Connery’s sweep of Watkins Glen vaulted him to third in points, winning Rookie of the Year for CC Autosport. Rob Nicholas won the Masters Class, finishing second ahead of Audette in a 33-car field.

Audette makes 2011 title official
A last lap pass on Tim Minor gave Kyle Connery his fifth win of 2011, and Remy Audette finished third behind Minor to make his 2011 Championship official in a morning 12-lap race at Watkins Glen, run after an aborted non-race attempt on Saturday. Connery fell back early but worked his way up to second, closing in on Minor to grab the lead on the last lap.

Double podiums for Britain West at GP3R
“Britain West takes the Pro and Masters class wins in race two action on the twisty streets of Trois Rivieres”.
Nathan Blok took his first win of the 2011 season in Trois Rivieres. Britain West Motorsport, Canada’s leading Formula Ford competition group, left the province of Quebec with some hard earned hardware as two drivers managed to hit the podium during the exciting and action packed Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres.
