Bernie Ecclestone is tipped to sign up the airline Emirates as a major F1 sponsor on a visit to Dubai on Tuesday.
The Financial Times said the five year deal is worth “about $200m”, making it “one of the biggest” in motor sport. The report said Emirates would join formula one’s clutch of official sponsors, including UBS, Rolex, Tata and LG.

UBS, a major sponsor of formula one, could be considering pulling out of the sport.
The Swiss based global financial services company entered F1 in 2010, powered by its then chief executive Oswald Grubel, who had also brought the Swiss bank Credit Suisse to the sport and was a board member of the BMW-Sauber team.

It emerged recently that, before deciding to sponsor the entire sport last year, UBS chief executive Oswald Grubel wanted instead to link the brand with an individual team. Blick claims that team was Hinwil based Sauber, and the newspaper has now published three ‘secret’ photographs to prove it.

One of F1′s non-executive directors is looking to get involved with formula one sponsorship deals.
The Financial Times reports that global communications services company WPP, headed by founder and boss Sir Martin Sorrell, is taking a minority stake in the biggest F1 sponsorship agency Just Marketing.

The arrival in formula one of Swiss bank UBS is helping Williams in its search for a new major sponsor for 2011. It recently emerged that the sport has sealed a sponsorship deal with UBS that will be launched in Singapore later this month.
Oswald Grubel’s tenure dates back to his involvement with the sponsor Credit Suisse prior to the BMW takeover.
