Those who watched Sunday’s Malaysian grand prix witnessed “the blossoming of a future champion”.
That is the view of Patrick Tambay, a French F1 driver of the 80s who raced with Ferrari. Sergio Perez currently drives for Sauber, but he is the cream of Ferrari’s development programme and Tambay told RMC he thinks the Mexican is now definitely set for a future with the famous Italian team.

Fernando Alonso would like to see Flavio Briatore back in formula one, but he denies his arrival at Ferrari “would be like Mou in Madrid”. The ‘Mou’ reference is to Jose Mourinho, the highly respected Portuguese football coach who arrived at Real Madrid last year and is regarded as one of the best managers in history.

Senna not considered for Kubica sub role
Renault is expected to announce on Monday that Nick Heidfeld has been selected as injured Robert Kubica’s replacement for the start of the 2011 season. Injured Pole Kubica will be recovering from injuries suffered in a rally crash for months at least, and his former BMW teammate Heidfeld impressed the Lotus-sponsored team during his audition for the seat at Jerez at the weekend.
