The GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES roster keeps growing and after having announced their intention to line-up in 2013, Team Petri Corse, a longtime Porsche squad, opted for a full commitment to SUPERSTARSWORLD. The Italian-based squad will field two Porsche Panamera racers in SUPERSTARS and two 997 GT3 models in GTSPRINT.

Bernie Ecclestone has this week delighted his Christmas card recipients with his latest humorous handiwork.
Every year, the F1 chief executive commissions an original cartoon for his annual card, depicting a contemporary F1 issue with a mischievous tilt. For the 2012 holiday season, the 82-year-old’s card shows Lewis Hamilton abandoning his broken-down McLaren and leaping into a Mercedes saloon.

Norbert Haug fell on his sword due to Mercedes’ failure to succeed in its first three years, Niki Lauda has confirmed.
Following last week’s shock news, many sensed the new non-executive chairman Lauda’s influence when it was announced that Haug is stepping down after 22 years in charge at the German marque. But the great Austrian insists he was as surprised as anyone.

Red Bull has extended its contract with team boss Christian Horner, the energy drink company’s motor sport chief Dr Helmut Marko has claimed. The news follows speculation at the weekend that, in the wake of Norbert Haug’s shock departure at Mercedes, the German marque had targeted Briton Horner as a potential successor.

Niki Lauda has now started his new job at Mercedes, insisting his presence does not endanger the Brackley based team’s current boss, Ross Brawn. Officially, the Austrian great’s role is to ensure a better link between the racing team in the UK, and the German carmaker’s headquarters in Stuttgart.

A German F1 pundit has advised Niki Lauda to take an axe to Mercedes’ current personnel lineup.
Lauda, the great Austrian triple world champion, has been signed on as Mercedes’ non-executive chairman — effectively a decision-making link between the German marque’s Stuttgart headquarters and the racing team in the UK.

More publications and sources are reporting rumours Mercedes could be looking to reshape its commitment to formula one.
The latest edition of the French weekly Auto Hebdo reported that, still yet to agree a new Concorde Agreement deal, the Stuttgart carmaker could field only a ‘semi-official’ team from 2014.

German spectators losing interest in F1
In Auto Motor und Sport, he said he was “surprised” by the “lack of interest” in the German grand prix amid the fascinating 2012 season. Indeed, Germans have seldom had more to cheer about in F1, with the grid boasting legend Michael Schumacher, the reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, three other race drivers and the Stuttgart marque Mercedes.

The Rastatt production facility in Baden celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year
Mercedes AMG Petronas drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg today completed a flying tour of Mercedes-Benz facilities near the company headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. After visiting the production facilities for the new A-Class and B-Class compact models in Rastatt, the drivers tried their hand at assembling the pistons and cylinder heads of a high-performance AMG engine at Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach. The 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 engine will power the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake, which will be given its world premiere at the “Night of the Stars” on 21st July in Hockenheim.

Mercedes appears in no mind to change its driver lineup any time soon.
Breakthrough China GP winner Nico Rosberg admitted this week that he could imagine staying with the German marque for the rest of his F1 career. “I see no reason why he shouldn’t stay for a long time,” agreed Norbert Haug, Stuttgart carmaker Mercedes’ motor racing vice-president, in the pages of Germany’s Sport Bild.
Spain’s El Mundo said the news about the 21-year-old has come “direct from Stuttgart”, and “should be announced this week” from either the F1 or DTM tests.
