Briton on top as RUSSIAN TIME win championship
James Calado dominated his rivals with a crushing display of speed and guile in sauna- like conditions to claim the final win of the season at today’s sprint race in Abu Dhabi ahead of Dani Clos and champion Fabio Leimer, while Sam Bird’s fourth place secured victory for his RUSSIAN TIME squad in the teams’ championship.
American on top step, Swiss driver on top of world
Alexander Rossi converted yesterday’s pole to today’s win, but not without a fight: the American had to scrap his way back past Jolyon Palmer to take his maiden Series victory, but most eyes were trained on the fight behind them where Fabio Leimer lost a podium finish to Marcus Ericsson but had enough points in the bag to grab the 2013 GP2 Series title.

Alexander Rossi has dominated this evening’s qualifying session in Abu Dhabi with an educational display of driving under lights to claim pole position from Sam Bird and Jolyon Palmer, leading for most of the session to annex the front of tomorrow afternoon’s feature race grid.

Briton bags second top spot of season
Sam Bird has picked up in Monza where he left off in Spa, claiming his second consecutive pole position in a dramatic qualifying session this afternoon where all of the championship contenders were in the mix right up to the end, as the Briton grabbed the top spot by just 0.034 seconds from Fabio Leimer and Jolyon Palmer.
Briton fastest in free practice
Jolyon Palmer set a benchmark for his rivals with a scorching late lap to claim the top spot in this morning’s free practice session in Monza, although it was tight at the top: the Briton’s best lap of 1:32.120 was just 0.003 ahead of Fabio Leimer and two tenths to the good over Sam Bird.
The edge of glory
With only three rounds left in the season, the title race has become a frenzied fight between five hungry men: Series leader Stefano Coletti who has enjoyed a perfect start of the year leaving almost nothing but crumbs to the rest of the field has had a very challenging second half of the season.
Briton holds off Leal for first win of 2013
James Calado claimed his first win of the season from pole position in this morning’s sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps, but he didn’t have it all his own way: the Englishman built up an early lead before Julian Leal came back at his rival, pushing him all the way to the flag with Adrian Quaife-Hobbs right behind the pair.
