Following the successful season finale at Hockenheim and the impressive appearance in this year’s Macau GP (1st place Prema Powerteam, 2nd place Signature, 4th place Mücke Motorsport), the preparations for the 2012 Formula 3 Euro Series season are running flat out.

Today, Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) celebrated the biggest victory of his motorsport career to date.
At the 6.12 kilometres long Guia Circuit, the Spaniard won the 58th Macau Grand Prix, one of the world’s most prestigious Formula 3 races. After an action-packed race, Marco Wittmann (Signature) finished third behind Felipe Nasr (Carlin). Thus, a driver from the Formula 3 Euro Series wins the race in the former Portuguese colony for the third year in a row.

Marco Wittmann (Signature) has won the qualification race for the 58th Macau Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 15.30 h local time (8.30 h CET). At the 6.12 kilometres long Guia circuit, the German Euro Series’ driver finished ahead of Felipe Nasr (Carlin) and Formula 3 Euro Series’ Champion Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam), who finished second and third respectively. Six drivers from the Formula 3 Euro Series scored a top ten finish.

58th Macau Grand Prix qualifying report
In second qualifying for the 58th Macau Grand Prix, that took place in dry conditions, Marco Wittmann (Signature, 2:12.790 minutes) came out on top. This year’s runner-up of the Formula 3 Euro Series only came to the fore in the final seconds of a thrilling qualifying session, toppling Euro Series’ champion Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 2:12.854 minutes), who ended up second. At the 6.12 kilometres long Guia Circuit in the former Portuguese colony, the two Formula 3 Euro Series’ drivers were separated by only 0.064 seconds.

Roberto Merhi already moved up to the top of the time sheets at the start of the first qualifying session.
Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 2:28.860 minutes), the reigning Formula 3 Euro Series champion, showed off his skills in first qualifying for the 58th Macau Grand Prix. At the rain-soaked 6.12 kilometres long Guia circuit, the Spaniard set the fastest time from Marco Wittmann (Signature, 2:30.535 minutes) and Felipe Nasr (Carlin, 2:30.639 minutes).

In the Formula 3 Euro Series finale at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, the already-crowned champion from Spain won from the best rookie Nigel Melker (Mücke Motorsport) and Daniel Juncadella (Mücke Motorsport).

Masters winner Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport) had to wait a long time before he could finally celebrate a victory in the Formula 3 Euro Series as well. In the 26th season round at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, he took the chequered flag in first place. Champion Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) came home second ahead of Daniel Abt (Signature).

Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) won the 25th season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, just ahead of Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport), celebrating his tenth victory of the season. Moreover, he helped his Prema Powerteam win this year’s teams’ title.

Although he is already champion, Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 1:31.693 minutes) didn’t let go in the finale.
In Formula 3 Euro Series qualifying at Hockenheim, he drove the fastest race lap. Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport, 1:31.783 minutes) was only 0.09 seconds slower at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. Novice Carlos Sainz jr. (Signature, 1:32.022 minutes) surprised by ending up third in his maiden Euro Series qualifying ahead of Daniel Abt (Signature, 1:32.126 minutes).

Farewell Kumho – new tyre and series partner from 2012
Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) may look forward to a relaxed season finale as he can contest the final rounds of the 2011 Formula 3 Euro Series season at the 4.574-kilometre Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg without having to cope with any pressure: after all, the Spaniard succeeded in winning the title as early as on the penultimate race weekend of the season, at Valencia.

Having already won the first FIA Formula 3 International Trophy race at the 7.004 kilometres long Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) was also unbeatable in the second race. At the finish, he had a margin of over 23 seconds over Marco Wittmann (Signature). Laurens Vanthoor (Signature) ended up fourth behind William Buller (Fortec Motorsport).

Spaniard Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) has won the fourth season round of the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy. The points’ leader scored an undisputed lights-to-flag victory from William Buller (Fortec Motorsport) and Jazeman Jaafar (Carlin).

Merhi begins strongly in Spa
Formula 3 Euro Series drivers dominated proceedings in qualifying for the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Euro Series’ points’ leader Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 2:17.438 minutes) set the fastest lap time at the 7.004 kilometres long Grand Prix circuit, followed by Marko Asmer (Double R, 2:18.502 minutes) and Marco Wittmann (Signature, 2:18.800 minutes).

Formula 3 Euro Series round 4 and 5
This weekend, the international motor-racing calendar features the fourth and fifth rounds of the ’FIA Formula 3 International Trophy’. The venue of these races that will be held within the framework of the British Formula 3 Championship is the legendary 7.004-kilometre Ardennes Rollercoaster of Spa-Francorchamps, with six Formula 3 Euro Series drivers using this opportunity to contest races at this spectacular racetrack.

Formula 3 Euro Series Norisring race 3 report
Marco Wittmann (Signature) decided the 15th season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring in his favour. On a wet track, the 21-year old scored a lights-to-flag win and thus moved up to second place in the drivers’ standings. Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) finished second, but remains the Formula 3 Euro Series points’ leader. His margin over Wittmann is currently 31 points. Daniel Abt (Signature) took the flag in third place.

Marco Wittmann (Signature) claimed victory in the second Formula 3 Euro Series race at Norisring. The Franconian, who only lives 40 kilometres away from Norisring, had a thrilling battle for the lead with Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam), in which the German eventually came out on top.

Formula 3 Euro Series Norisring race 1 report
Nigel Melker (Mücke Motorsport) won an action-packed 13th Formula 3 Euro Series’ round at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring in Nuremberg, after Laurens Vanthoor (Signature) and Marco Wittmann (Signature), who had crossed the finish line ahead of the Dutchman, each were given a 30 seconds’ time penalty for a yellow-flag infringement.
