Dan Wheldon wins the Indianapolis 500
Starting from the pole for the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500, Alex Tagliani kept in touch with the leaders during the first half of the 200-lap race before encountering high engine oil temperature problems. The Sam Schmidt Motorsports driver had an excellent race start, leading 20 of the first 34 laps, a stint he shared with Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon.

A thrilling finish completed a record-setting race weekend at Daytona International Speedway for Riley Technologies as the No. 01 Chip Ganassi with Felix Sabates BMW-Riley won the 2011 Rolex 24 At Daytona. Scott Pruett drove under the checkered flag just 2.4 seconds ahead the sister Ganassi team entry driven by Scott Dixon at the finish.

Robert Wickens was presented with the British Racing Drivers Club ‘Bruce McLaren Award’ in a ceremony on Monday, 5th December, with the Canadian being recognized for his championship success this season in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
The number of former IndyCar or Champ Car Champions at this year’s Armor All Gold Coast 600 has increased to four with Brad Jones Racing confirming Tony Kanaan as part of their squad for this year’s October 21-23 event.
