Portugal hosts first official GP3 test session of 2012
The long wait is finally over! GP3 seriesTM is back on track in 2012 with the first official test session in Portugal. Testing takes place over two days – 21-22 February at the Estoril circuit and gives teams and drivers their first opportunity to get a feel with the car – the GP3 10 and to integrate within their squad.

Lotus ART driver sets quickest time on final day of post season testing

Today marked the final day of GP3 Series™ post-season testing at Circuito De Jerez and the teams were greeted with cool temperatures in the morning. There was just one new face in paddock with Aaro Vainio returning to Lotus ART. Tom Blomqvist switched teams to Status Grand Prix, Facu Regalia also switched to the Irish team for Day 2. Conor Daly moved back to Carlin and Fabio Gamberini to RSC Mücke Motorsport.

Cypriot driver Tio Ellinas tops Day 1 of post season testing at Circuito De Jerez for Marussia Manor Racing
The final 2011 GP3 Series™ post season test kicked off today at Circuito De Jerez in sunny but cool morning conditions. Familiar faces in the paddock included Daniel Abt who was last week’s quickest man in Valencia, and American Conor Daly who joined the German at Lotus ART.

Status Grand Prix driver seals first GP3 Series™ victory at Autodromo Nazionale Monza

Antonio Felix Da Costa took his first victory this season in what was a dramatic final race of the 2011 GP3 Series™. The Portuguese driver finished ahead of championship runner-up James Calado, but the Lotus ART driver was handed a 20-second penalty for failing to take a drive-through penalty after causing a collision with Mitch Evans. Marussia Manor Racing’s Rio Haryanto was promoted to second and Nico Müller took the final podium spot.

Marussia Manor Racing on pole at Autodromo Nazionale Monza

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs took his second GP3 Series™ pole position for Marussia Manor Racing in the final seconds of qualifying at Autodromo Nazionale Monza today. The British driver finished 0.062 seconds ahead of Nico Müller who was on course to take his maiden pole position of the season for Jenzer Motorsport.

MW Arden’s Simon Trummer quickest in Practice 2 in Italy

The final round of the GP3 Series™ continued this afternoon with the second practice session at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Simon Trummer eventually claimed the top spot with a time of 1:45.103 set on his very last lap. The Swiss driver beat out Tom Dillmann who had been top for the majority of the incident filled session. Lotus ART’s championship contenders Valtteri Bottas and James Calado watched the session from the pits choosing to save their tyres for qualifying tomorrow.

Stunning drive from the young New Zealander as Lotus ART take teams crown

Pole sitter Richie Stanaway drove a brilliant race today to win on his GP3 Series debut weekend. The New Zealander finished 4.007 seconds ahead of his teammate James Calado to lead the second Lotus ART 1-2 of the weekend. The result ensured that Lotus ART sealed the teams’ title for the second season in a row with one round remaining.

Valtteri Bottas stamped his authority on the 2011 GP3 Series once again this afternoon with a commanding win in Race 1. The Finn finished 6.495 seconds ahead of his teammate and pole sitter James Calado to lead a Lotus ART 1-2.

Lotus ART dominate in Belgium

James Calado took his first GP3 pole position for Lotus ART after an epic battle for pole position at Spa-Francorchamps today. The British driver finished just 0.088 seconds ahead of his teammate and Series leader Valtteri Bottas proving that the reigning champions are still the team to beat this season.

GP3 Series™ leader Valtteri Bottas quickest in rain interrupted practice

Lotus ART driver Valtteri Bottas shot a warning to his rivals during today’s 45-minute long free practice and proved he will be one to watch at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. The Finn set the pace this morning claiming the top spot with a time of 2:14.546 just 0.280 seconds ahead of MW Arden’s Mitch Evans.

With just two events remaining the battle to become the 2011 champion is well and truly on. At Round 6 in Budapest Lotus ART’s Valtteri Bottas became the first driver to win more than one race this season, and in doing so marked himself as a true title contender – the Finn also snatched his first GP3 pole position. Rio Haryanto then followed suit winning Sunday’s Race 2. The Marussia Manor Racing driver finished just ahead of the charging Lotus ART pair of Valtteri Bottas and James Calado.

Today rookie Valtteri Bottas became the first GP3 driver to win more than one race this season, and showed he is ‘in it to win it’ in the battle to become the 2011 GP3 Series™ champion. The Lotus ART driver took a lights-to-flag victory at Hungaroring to finish 0.9 seconds ahead of Michael Christensen.

Lotus ART dominate in Hungary

Valtteri Bottas took his first GP3 pole position for Lotus ART after leading the rest of the field for most of the thirty minutes session at Hungaroring today, and confirming he is on fine form following his success last week at Nurburgring. The Series race winner was 0.330 seconds ahead of his teammate James Calado to lock out the front row of the grid for the French team.
