Macau victory for Daniel Juncadella

Today, Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) celebrated the biggest victory of his motorsport career to date.  

F3 Formula 3 EuroseriesAt the 6.12 kilometres long Guia Circuit, the Spaniard won the 58th Macau Grand Prix, one of the world’s most prestigious Formula 3 races. After an action-packed race, Marco Wittmann (Signature) finished third behind Felipe Nasr (Carlin). Thus, a driver from the Formula 3 Euro Series wins the race in the former Portuguese colony for the third year in a row.

Victory for Marco Wittmann in Macau qualification race

Starting from pole position, Marco Wittmann only had to battle for his position in the first run up to the Lisboa corner

F3 Formula 3 EuroseriesMarco Wittmann (Signature) has won the qualification race for the 58th Macau Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 15.30 h local time (8.30 h CET). At the 6.12 kilometres long Guia circuit, the German Euro Series’ driver finished ahead of Felipe Nasr (Carlin) and Formula 3 Euro Series’ Champion Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam), who finished second and third respectively. Six drivers from the Formula 3 Euro Series scored a top ten finish.

58th Macau Grand Prix qualifying report

F3 Formula 3 EuroseriesIn second qualifying for the 58th Macau Grand Prix, that took place in dry conditions, Marco Wittmann (Signature, 2:12.790 minutes) came out on top. This year’s runner-up of the Formula 3 Euro Series only came to the fore in the final seconds of a thrilling qualifying session, toppling Euro Series’ champion Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 2:12.854 minutes), who ended up second. At the 6.12 kilometres long Guia Circuit in the former Portuguese colony, the two Formula 3 Euro Series’ drivers were separated by only 0.064 seconds.

A costly and angry day for Merhi in Macau

The two sides of fortune have been apparent at the start of the 58th Macau Grand Prix for Roberto Merhi.

F3 - Macau - Roberto MerhiThe Prema driver flew around the Chinese street track to take provisional pole position in first qualifying, becoming the first Spaniard in history to achieve the feat. But the day ended on the  receiving end of a severe grid penalty for Saturday’s opening race.

Signature driver Wittmann strikes back

Marco Wittmann (Signature) was victorious in the third Formula 3 Euro Series race at the 5.901 kilometres long Silverstone circuit.

Carlos Muñoz (Signature) ended up third in the race that had many entertaining position fights. With six races remaining, Merhi’s advantage in the drivers’ standings is 76 points, Wittmann has moved up into second place again.

At the finish, he had a margin of over 23 seconds over Marco Wittmann (Signature). Laurens Vanthoor (Signature) ended up fourth behind William Buller (Fortec Motorsport).

F3 Formula 3 EuroseriesStreckenplan 2011Marco Wittmann (Signature) decided the 15th season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring in his favour. On a wet track, the 21-year old scored a lights-to-flag win and thus moved up to second place in the drivers’ standings. Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) finished second, but remains the Formula 3 Euro Series points’ leader. His margin over Wittmann is currently 31 points. Daniel Abt (Signature) took the flag in third place.
