Victory is first of year for No. 29 team; emotions run high after checkered flag
Kevin Harvick sped away on fresh tires to win Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400 in a green-white-checkered finish at Richmond International Raceway, leaving a group of drivers with widely divergent emotions in his wake.

Carl Edwards continued to build toward the Chase for the Sprint Cup with a pole-winning run Friday at Richmond International Raceway. Edwards will start from the top spot in Saturday’s Air Guard 400, the final race before the Chase begins at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. With a lap at 127.762 mph (21.133 seconds), Edwards edged Juan Montoya (127.455 mph) in winning his first pole at the three-quarters-mile short track.
Dixon and Dario Franchitti made the most of early exits for both their Penske rivals. Dixon completed the 300 laps just three tenths ahead of Franchitti as another IndyCar Series race proved just how hard it has become to pass with the current spec of Dallara-Honda, but the Scot should have been first across the line, having been caught out by the timing of one of the race’s four accident-inspired cautions.
Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Best Buy Dodge team might as well refer to Richmond International Raceway as its home away from home.
