The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières…

Quebec driver Mathieu Audette will retake the wheel of the Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX for this weekend’s two Canadian Touring Car Championship rounds, held as part of the popular Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. The Audette Racing Team driver, and winner of last year’s Friday night race, is eyeing yet another victory at this event.

This weekend in Ontario…
This weekend, Quebec driver Rémy Audette earned his very first career win in the Canadian Touring Car Championship. After qualifying in sixth, the Audette Racing driver quickly made his way to the front of the pack, on route to winning the race, in only his sixth series start, of which four have been at the wheel of the Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX. During the second race, he was on his way to a repeat performance when a mechanical issue forced him to retire.

This weekend in Canadian Touring Car…
This weekend, the Canadian Touring Car Championship will be hosted at the Mosport circuit, near Toronto, as part of the big “American Le Mans” event. Rémy Audette has already won twice at Mosport in the past few years with his open wheel (American F2000 series) car but this will be Quebec driver’s first time competing on the track in a Touring Car. This will therefore be a new discovery for him at the wheel of his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX.

Mirabel’s ICAR Sundown results…

Quebec driver Rémy Audette contested this weekend’s ICAR Sundown in Mirabel as part of the Canadian Touring Car Championship. Two races were on the program, of which only one Rémy Audette was able to participate in, earning the Audette Racing Team a “Top 4″ result.

Rémy Audette impresses in his Touring Car debut
Quebec driver Rémy Audette earned one pole position and two podiums in his career debut in the Canadian Touring Car Championship. The two races, part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada itinerary, allowed for the Audette Racing Team to demonstrate its talent by remaining among the leaders during each appearance on the track.

Canadian Touring Car Championship kicks off this weekend…

The Audette Racing Team will take to the Mosport circuit this weekend in Ontario, for the first two rounds of the 2012 Canadian Touring Car Championship season. At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX, Mathieu Audette will be up against particularly stiff competition (this season close to fifty drivers are registered for the series) but nevertheless, his goal is nothing less than victory for this first double-header of the year.

La Rocca leads at VIR

Robert La Rocca made it a clean sweep at VIR with his second victory of the weekend, along with two poles and two fastest laps for his HP-Tech Motorsports team. La Rocca held off an early challenge from the Radon of Fabio Orsolon, and then another challenge later in the race from Tim Minor’s Citation before separating from the pack, winning over Niki Coello’s RFR and Wyatt Gooden in a Van Diemen.

Robert “The Rock” La Rocca continued the momentum from Saturday’s victory and took his second pole in two days at VIR outpacing Fabio Orsolon’s No. 77 Radon by just under three tenths of a second in the No. 10 Van Diemen for his Ft. Lauderdale-based HP-Tech squad. Wyatt Gooden, who made contact with La Rocca on the opening lap of Saturday’s race, will line up third with Niki Coello in a RFR and Tim Minor’s Citation completing the top five.

La Rocca took his first win at VIR

Robert La Rocca led every lap in the F2000 Championship Series season opener at VIR from pole en route to his first career F2000 victory in the No. 10 HP-Tech Motorsport Van Diemen. La Rocca faced a brief challenge following opening-lap contact with Wyatt Gooden from Fabio Orsolon’s GTP Motorsports Radon before checking out on the 32-car field, and setting fast lap, ensuring all the Championship points for the day.

“I’m hoping we’ll have a clean race” -La Rocca

Robert La Rocca edged rookie Wyatt Gooden by four thousandths of a second in the closing stages of qualifying for race one at VIR to take his first career pole. The HP-Tech driver turned in a lap of 1:54.910 in the No. 10 Van Diemen, beating out Wyatt Gooden’s No. 6 Quantum Racing Services entry. The Radon of Fabio Orsolon will line up third ahead of Niki Coello’s RFR and Kyle Connery, also in a RFR.

HP-Tech’s Robert La Rocca continued to dominate the time sheets at VIR, pacing final practice on Friday, with a top five that featured four different chassis. La Rocca’s No. 10 Van Diemen turned in a lap of 1:54.989 to top Wyatt Gooden’s Quantum Racing Services Van Diemen, and Fabio Orsolon’s Radon, followed by John LaRue in the Citation chassis and Chris Livengood’s John Walko Racing RFR.

F2000 Championship Series opener at VIRginia International Raceway this weekend

Venezuelan driver Robert La Rocca set the fastest lap during testing for the F2000 Championship Series opener at VIRginia International Raceway this weekend. La Rocca, driving for HP-Tech, clocked in at 1:54.701 in HP-Tech’s No. 10 Van Diemen, switching over from the RFR chassis he has previously ran. F1600 graduate Wyatt Gooden was second fastest for Quantum Racing Services.

The 14 race, seven-weekend 2012 F2000 Championship Series is about to get going, with a 30-car-plus field expected at VIRginia International Raceway this Thursday for testing prior to a three-day race weekend. The big story coming into VIR is the sharp end of the field, with most of the top 2011 pilots returning, joined by a crop of new aspiring drivers, in addition to the proliferation of brand new cars throughout the F2000 paddock.

The seventh F2000 Championship Series season, which starts April 12-15 at VIR, may be the most unpredictable one yet, with a full, one-class, 30-car plus field expected, and a chassis shuffle happening throughout the grid. 2011 Series Champion Remy Audette is off to sports cars, but the men who finished behind him in the points are all expected back, along with a contingent of young aspiring and proven rookies ready for more than four and a half hours of track time in Virginia.

Audette Racing Team 2012 program…

The Audette Racing Team will return to competition this season, contesting all rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship. While awaiting the build of a brand new car, brothers Mathieu and Rémy Audette will participate in a rotating program for a total of four races each, using the team’s Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX.
