Having already won the first FIA Formula 3 International Trophy race at the 7.004 kilometres long Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) was also unbeatable in the second race. At the finish, he had a margin of over 23 seconds over Marco Wittmann (Signature). Laurens Vanthoor (Signature) ended up fourth behind William Buller (Fortec Motorsport).

Merhi begins strongly in Spa

Formula 3 Euro Series drivers dominated proceedings in qualifying for the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Euro Series’ points’ leader Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam, 2:17.438 minutes) set the fastest lap time at the 7.004 kilometres long Grand Prix circuit, followed by Marko Asmer (Double R, 2:18.502 minutes) and Marco Wittmann (Signature, 2:18.800 minutes).

Formula 3 Euro Series Norisring race 3 report

Marco Wittmann (Signature) decided the 15th season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring in his favour. On a wet track, the 21-year old scored a lights-to-flag win and thus moved up to second place in the drivers’ standings. Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) finished second, but remains the Formula 3 Euro Series points’ leader. His margin over Wittmann is currently 31 points. Daniel Abt (Signature) took the flag in third place.

Nigel Melker (Mücke Motorsport) won an action-packed 13th Formula 3 Euro Series’ round at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring in Nuremberg, after Laurens Vanthoor (Signature) and Marco Wittmann (Signature), who had crossed the finish line ahead of the Dutchman, each were given a 30 seconds’ time penalty for a yellow-flag infringement.

At the 4.326 kilometres long Red Bull Ring in Styria, the Spaniard took the lead at the start and went on to win the race with a five seconds’ margin over Nigel Melker (Mücke Motorsport).

Formula 3 Euro Series returns to the Southern French city

Following a one year break, the Grand Prix de Pau will make its comeback on the motor-racing calendar, this weekend.
