There are paddock rumours that F1 team Lotus’ owner Genii may soon be sold.
The German language Speed Week said it has heard that the likely buyer is from Malaysia. In 2010 and 2011, Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes’ Caterham team was called Lotus, until a resolution was found to the F1 naming dispute with Group Lotus.

Dany Bahar, the sacked boss of former Lotus F1 Team sponsor Group Lotus, has reportedly decided to sue the struggling sports car maker.
The Turkish born Swiss was dismissed at the end of an investigation by Lotus’ owner DRB-Hicom into Bahar’s conduct. That was amid rumours Bahar used Lotus funds to extensively refurbish his several houses. The Swiss newspaper Bilanz reports that Bahar is filing a suit in London’s High Court for wrongful termination.

Proton, the Malaysian carmaker, has an option to buy 10 per cent of the F1 team that bears the name of its sports car marque Lotus.
Rumours about Group Lotus’ health ramped up this week after it emerged that its title sponsorship of the Genii-owned Lotus team has been “terminated”. Group Lotus responded angrily to the subsequent speculation, albeit admitting it is grappling with “problems”.

Proton, Group Lotus, 1Malaysia Racing Team and its owner Tony Fernandes are delighted to announce that the legal dispute in the English Courts relating to the “LOTUS” and “TEAM LOTUS” brands has now ended amicably with the parties agreeing settlement terms earlier this month.

Tony Fernandes’ formula one team will probably be renamed ‘Caterham Team AirAsia’ ahead of the 2012 season.
And Turun Sanomat correspondent Heikki Kulta also reports that, as the long naming dispute with Proton’s Group Lotus comes to an end, the Lotus logo will be removed from the green T128 cars with almost immediate effect.

Subaru driver Jose L Barrios will be in action on Rally Islas Canarias
A total of 76 cars are set to contest Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Ingles, which takes place on the island of Gran Canaria from 14-16 April. Thirty-five crews have entered the main Intercontinental Rally Challenge event with a further 41 competitors registered for the national-level rally, which counts as a round of the Spanish championship.

Team Lotus confirms no KERS for 2011 car
The Team Lotus 2011 challenger T128 was launched on Monday 31st January exclusively in Team Lotus Notes. The special launch edition of the team’s magazine has a number of first-see images of the 2011 car and insights from key players within Team Lotus into the design and build process of the new car, including people from the Aero, R&D and Vehicle Dynamics, Design and Senior Management Teams.
The waiting is over. Less than three months since Rallye Monte-Carlo hosted the thrilling start to Intercontinental Rally Challenge season five, the all-action series resumes with Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Ingles next week (14-16 April).
